Do this when you have a hotel to go back to like a home and travel that way So you don't have to carry much when walking around other than your bag, wallet, and other essentials.

If you're going to buy stuff there, like a lot of stuff, it's better to go with a small suitcase then buy a bigger one when you do your shopping. It's harder to go around when you're traveling with a bigger suitcase at the start of your trip

Yamato transport will send your luggage to your next destination for like 10-20 USD a bag. They're at the airport and also some subway stations I think. Also hotels will send all your luggage to the next hotel There is a day delay but it saved us this trip

@@ChocolateMorn From my previous experience, sending luggages from Haneda can reach Tokyo within the same day but sending from Narita will arrive next day. Note that my flights all arrived very early in the morning. I also sent the luggages from the Airbnb back to the airport. When you arrive at the airport, you will need to request for extra forms for that purpose. You need 1 form for each luggage, so always request extra. They will refuse to pick up your luggage if you don't have the form/enough forms. We ended up having to wheel 1 luggage to the airport ourselves because we didn't have enough forms for all the luggages we had.

There are medium and large lockers at most hub train stations in Japan. It’s the small stations and lockers outside of attractions like USJ that only have small lockers. If you do bring big bags just plan accordingly and make sure to leave your bag at a large station in the morning. In Tokyo I like Shinjuku station because they have TONS of lockers in multiple locations, so the risk of all the large lockers being used is basically zero. I like storing mine on the top floor of the bus terminal. 😉

Something I noticed over the course of a few school trips in my life is that people, generally, don't know how to pack light. Like, I'll rock up with everything in just the one small day bag (right size for carrying a pack lunch, a water bottle, phone purse, hat and gloves, nothing else) and one small suitcase. Then everyone else rocks up with suitcases twice the size at least and backpacks that only just class as carry on.

I brought medium sized suitcase and filled only a quarter of it. The rest of the space will be used to store souveniers and snacks you wanna bring back home. Pack smarter. Its light enough for you to travel around, big enough to store souveniers. PLUS. Get souveniers ONLY on the last day before your flight back. Visiy Donquihote and the Daisho 5dollar store, they got nifty useful items for a cheap price and tax free for tourists.

Just got back from Japan. I packed a Rimowa suitcase with almost nothing. All my clothes was pretty much stuff I needed to discard. So I came home with no laundry but the clothes on my back. The Rimowa was not quite a full size suitcase but almost. I packed it with a Le Sportsac carry-on bag. So, it was super light. And I filled it up with cool shit for transport back home. Highly recommend this method: Japan has really awesome cool shit and a lot of it is super affordable!

honestly the max you should ever bring to japan is 28inch cuz that's what I brought but its pretty bulky but can fit a lot soooooo. it really depends on you. i was able to carry about 20+ garments in my carry on alone, just using the packing cubes for extra compression. as for buying things, i always end up buying a new luggage dedicated to just merch 😅 merch > outfits for me as i ended up shipping clothes back from japan anyways as for running low on clothes, most hotels have a wash area, if not you can also go to a coin laundromat :)

@@fIowering do you think it could be a good idea to pack light and then to buy clothes while you’re there? Like lets say someone’s going for 2-3months, packing just a carry on may not be enough so is it smarter to buy clothes when you get there?
@fIowering
@fIowering Жыл бұрын
@@marvelgeek147 that really depends! theres a few factors to take into account here: is japanese outfits your style? can you pack enough to suit the weather and season? are you on the bigger end in terms of size? if japanese isnt your type then no, wear your own clothes. as i feel its more cost effective and environmentally friendly to bring your own clothes/basics. if you know you want to buy and wear japanese clothes then pack light basics you can pair with the clothes you'll buy ^^ you also have to be conscious of weather and season, i went recently during winter for a month but have studied in japan before in the past during their summer :) summer you sweat and go through clothes a lot faster. winter not so much, plus your coat covers like 90% of your outfits anyways so sometimes i just wear the same thing 2 days in a row. from personal experience though, id say its better to not overpack as you can always buy things you need for cheap there like socks the last bit sounds a bit harsh, but if youre bigger in size whether its height or weight, japanese people tend to be on the smaller end. whilst their clothes now come in quite the size variety, not all stores cater to bigger girls and guys, esp the trendy ones if youre after trendy or a unique clothes genre of clothes
@fIowering
@fIowering Жыл бұрын
@@marvelgeek147 sorry for the double comment but i also wanted to add to check your airline rules! when i go japan i always try and find an airline with the maximum amount of luggage allowance available (at least 40kg). otherwise just do a bit of research and see if your airline allows for you to purchase an extra check in or an extra carry on luggage! usually not as expensive as one would think and definitely worth it since it eliminates the stress of space and potential damage to items by heavy compression. hope that helps!
