Here you can learn the theme, the chords, the modes and the roadmap to play the great jazz tune " Take Five " by Dave Brubeck. This tutorial is one way of interpretation on the modes, chords, possible reharmonization or modal interchange. This is the very basic way of playing this great tune.

Easiest way to count in 5/4 time is to split it into two parts. First part is 3/4 (or waltz) followed by a second part of 2/4. So you count 1-2-3, 1-2.

Good stuff. Neat alternative version on Sky Guitar where you play the rythym and lead all at once. I mixed up the two versions, added some spicy diminished Bm fills, and made an ending for my own version. Another awesome version is this dude playing with his daughter or something while they scat sing over the top. That version is beyond my pay grade to try and emulate. lolz. Great song. Good lesson.

playing in the low position makes sense ,, i can transpose it to alternate positions then

Man I remember that tune when it came out . It caused quite a stir as it was totally different from what was going on at the time. I just loved that kinda syncopated rythm. I think it definitely sounds better with the delay on. I will have to check out your basic jazz 2 video as I really cant follow the changes but I can play all that you played by ear. Is jazz your preferred genre ?

Really you remember when that tune came out ? Thats cool :-) I guess it was kind of a game changer in that time. You really need to work through both basic jazz video's and then the real game in jazz starts. Yes I studied jazz guitar and I practice mostly jazz guitar. It's about time I share my knowledge. :-)

Your demonstration at around 7:40 is near impossible to follow if you don't already know how to play the song. I suggest stop stating fret numbers arbitrarily and tell us which string you're plucking.
