-'4 on the floor' lh comping with skip beats in different positions of the bar
-shell voicings in the lh
-simple intro and classic ending
-improvising with major blues scale and improvising with chord tones.

The four to the floor sounds reminiscent of Erroll Garner's accompaniment style. Everyone forgets that Erroll wasn't JUST the composer of Misty. His left hand sounded like a guitar--which is odd, considering how many guitarists are envious of pianists (me included). Erroll used that four to the floor with skip beat and made the piano sound like a rhythm machine! The album "Plays Gershwin and Kern" comes to mind for that four to the floor ala Freddie Green style.
