Besides the well thought out, solid, useful information you throw out there, your manner of speaking MUST be commended. It is very comfortable and candid, makes the listener feel like you’re hanging in the same room, casual exchange style. Last end of this lesson ( non-diatonic and change of direction ) was golden!!

Great videos, dude. Spending too much time on permutations, spacing out arpeggios, and using diatonics were and have always so much brain work. You are making me want to slow down my playing, and re learn old concepts with more focus. Awesome!

A useful sequence is R537/53R7/3R35/37R5 through maj/min/dim etc + exchanging the 7 for 6 on maj sounds. And, of course, finding the different lh finger options.... & then running it through progressions etc. This used to confound me initially but is worth its weight in gold when studied. I thank Joe Hubbard for this..;-))

Absolutely man! Honestly there's way too many ways to get going with arpeggios. I am just trying to give a simple yet effective start for others who are looking to learn. Hubbard is a great educator :)

Anthony Muthurajah WHAT I FOUND INTERESTING IS TO APPLY WITH A song track of MUSIC LATER SO YOU can ILLUSTRATE , since in the end of the day is meant to be played in musical mode anyway ... THANK YOU VERY MUCH ! Very good tutorial !!!discipline as you say .. and keep smoothness and clarity ... some say speed will come alone as you progress ..

Anthony, when I first started looking at your lessons I assumed you were playing a fender jazz but I now see its a squire jazz bass. Im really impressed with your beautiful tone on the instrument. Its so clean with very little fret noise. It reminds me alot of Jeff Berlin. Since listening to you it inspires me to get a clean sweet tone from my jazz fretless. I like a bass that sounds clean and musical. Distortion has its place but if guitars and pianos and horns can sound sweet and beautiful so can a bass guitar.

I too felt it must be a custom or boutique Jazz bass. Then the Sq__ on headstock snuck into frame. Jaw dropped ;?) Unless he's upgraded the electronics? Otherwise a beautiful tone either way. peace, e.

Anthony thank you always for your great lesson videos. I hava a question thats been bugging me for years, yet i still couldnt find the answer. How do you read notes on the fingerboard? For example when you practice&play arpeggio like this, do you first locate the root note then play the shapes accordingly? Or do you read every note, and play notes based on each notes? Iv seen many ppl saying the former way is an "easy" yet a bad method. But i just don't see how one can does the second method, while playing fast lines. Or is there third method that i dont know of?
@AnthonyMuthurajah
@AnthonyMuthurajah 6 жыл бұрын
I will do a lesson on this exclusively. General visualization of the fretboard is very critical and is often misunderstood. Not as hard as one might perceive it to be :)

Hey man, really like your style/sound and way of teaching! Just a quick question regarding the arpeggio formula you have. What would your fingering be for the major arpeggio starting on the low F on the E string if you're ending on the high C on the G string. I dig your approach in E major but just unsure of how to approach the big stretch once you move out of open E. Cheers
@AnthonyMuthurajah
@AnthonyMuthurajah 6 жыл бұрын
It's more or less the same principle. Start the arpeggio with the index finger and after playing the first 3 notes, you have to make a big jump to the next octave. That's just unavoidable on a 4 string but it's a great dexterity builder!
@johnnylawrence23
@johnnylawrence23 6 жыл бұрын
Ok, so its all about getting use to those big jumps. Cheers for the response man.
