Nikky Haley doesn’t want to answer the abortion question because she would absolutely sign an extreme ban. And Alyssa and Sarah you’re wrong, just because they “don’t have the votes so why are we talking about it” is besides the point. The Supreme Court took away a woman’s fundamental right. We deserve to know where a Presidential candidate stands on the issue because it’s what a lot of people care about, and we don’t know what the numbers will be in the next Congress.

Haley and Alyssa are missing the point. Just because normal, sane Americans won't LET you pass a draconian abortion ban, doesn't mean we should TRUST you on the issue! That's like saying "Well it doesn't matter if I want to hijack the plane, TSA won't let me". Of course it matters, I don't want to vote for someone who WOULD if they COULD!

During the debate Haley said that parents should be the one teaching their kids about gender. I'm in my mid-20's and my parents never talked to me about gender or sexuality until I turned 18! That's way to late.😂 And over 90% of abortions take place in the first trimester. NO doctor is performing an abortion at 37 weeks. That late in a pregnancy the woman has already made plans for the baby. Either keeping the baby or giving the baby up for adoption.

Now, Alyssa, let's not downplay the notion about a federal ban on abortion; we had (then) two Supreme Court Justice nominees that said to the American people that Roe was settled and it wouldn't be touched, now look what happened. I agree that logistically it probably wouldn't fly, but let's not pretend that the overturning of Roe didn't happen and that people who are either in charge or looking to be in charge haven't touted out their support for a federal ban; we remember and are hesitant that a step further wouldn't happen.

Could we all agree, PLEASE, that there is no such thing as a 37, 38 week abortion. That is going into labour. If there is sadly an issue with the child, the mother is given the same drugs that anyone gets to induce labour. She has to labour and deliver the child.

I appreciated this discussion on The View. In my opinion, Nikki Haley's views on the transgender issue are off-the charts extreme and nonsensical. Also, buried in her comments on abortion, was this: "Why not talk about the fact that we should be trying to save as many babies as possible and support as many mothers as possible?” Haley is trying to paint herself as bringing everyone together, but this is not a "come together" comment. Rather, it's the Republican talking point about referring to fetuses as babies that have to be "saved."

I love what Sarah said, because what she said reminds me so much of Dustin Lance Black and his coming out story w his mom, who was completely against her son being Gay for the longest time until she sat down one night w his friends, without even knowing his friends were Gay and she listened to their stories and that's what changed her mind about the LGBTQ+ community, because she opened her heart to listen to their stories and understand them. I feel like so many people who have these horrific views of the Gay community, have only seen the awful side and have not seen the good and refuse to sit down w someone who is LGBTQ+ and really listen to their stories.
