@@mountopia77 CO, otherwise known as Carbon Monoxide is an odorless gas that is released when something is burned such as a fossil fuel. Perhaps you are mistaking it for natural gas??

@@mountopia77 What? No. You're thinking Natural Gas. That is not the same as carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is odorless and will happen at the output of any combustion. It is exponentially worse if the fuel/air mix isn't balanced perfectly. Whether you are burning wood, pellets, natural gas, gasoline, propane, logs, heating oil, or anything else you will always have some level of carbon monoxide that gets exponentially worse based on incorrect fuel/air mix. Ventless fireplaces dump all that air into the room while vented fireplaces vent most of it safely outside.

@@mountopia77 That smell only exists in unburned gas. The sulfur is burnt with the gas.

I've had a charm glow ventless stove for 15 years. It's the greatest thing in the world. Have you ever heard of anybody dying from a ventless stove? Me either

Turning OFF the carbon monoxide or smoke detector?!! Wow.. IMHO it does not get any dumber than that..

Need to have it serviced even if you don’t use it often.

Ever hear a car alarm go off on a windy day and not get up put your shoes on and go outside to see who was trying to break in? Ever tap on a gauge of your car and wonder if the gauge was working properly? Sensors that set off alarms fail. We as people have seen more false alarms than real alarms in our lifetime. I hope you have never blown off any type of check engine light cuz you literally would be doing the same thing.

5 years and unit never once serviced🙄... Carbon Monoxide alarm goes off; the house sitter turns off the warning alarm. But some how the FIREPLACE was the culprit to blame in this story. 🤦🏻‍♀ Lack of accountability, responsibility, minus a good dose common sense has always been a quick ticket to a quick grave.😂 Why was this even news? Reporters have no shame I swear..😏

Gas furnaces can do this too. Its unfair to pick on the ventless units. I could never find anything online bad about them.

32 hours of burn time on my logs and I can only run it for 5 min at time because it stinks so bad. I have to wear an N95 and open all the windows whenever I turn it on. I had them come and clean the logs and do the yearly check to make sure there isn't a gas leak, they cleaned and checked and told me it was fine and that I would just have to continue opening up all the windows in the house whenever I ran it. So running it in the winter is out of the question. So basically I just spent $2000 to get lung cancer, total waste of money.

I have been telling people for YEARS to stay away from ventless heaters. Not worth the risk.......death is not something that is reverseable.
