I shot this while freediving at Blue Springs State Park, Florida. It covers a few different dive routes, but don't be fooled by how easy it looks. Most of these routes are very technical cave dives. We're often swimming through 1' cracks in the near darkness. Many routes you have to commit to as there's no turning back. So be careful if you go out there. It's an amazing cave to free dive, still my favorites by far. So if you like it please subscribe. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for such a beautiful informative video. I am glad you made it. Yes, it is very dangerous. I have had some near misses freediving there including going up through the side cave and going into an opening that was too small and having to back out. I also went up through the cave from under and once had a scuba diver sitting on where I was supposed to come out. I calmed myself and as you said, "there is no going back". I am sure he was shocked when a hand pushed on his butt from under him but it worked. We can't be responsible for foolish people who watch a video and try to do what is out of their league. Thank you for such a great effort. Loved it.

I literally go here about 3 times a week and your "Shocker route" is fucking terrifying in person, I'm still working my breathing capacity as I'm just getting into freediving. But, maaan the side cave where you come out is always complete darkness when I go look inside.. yall are awesome for that (have watched this video 100 times)

Love Blue Springs It's where I first started and still love going. It only being about 25 to 30 minutes away helps as well. I have to agree that you have to overcome some major fears at Blue due to the darkness. I didn't have a flashlight for over a year, but what a major difference once you can see where you're going. Great video, keep'em coming.

Great job on the video. Anxious to see the rest of them. One thing I like about the back route is you can make a left turn at any point and bail out on the dive when it starts to get uncomfortable. This is such a fun place to dive but be sure you do it with someone that has dove it before.

A shout out to all freedivers. There's a fledgling Facebook Group called Freediving Fanatics. I created it as a networking tool for freedivers around the world to post their photos and videos. It could also be a great way to find freediving buddies and to share info on dive locations. Although there isn't anything to this group as of yet, we can make this group page something big while promoting our own KZfaq channels, Facebook pages, instagram, websites, businesses, you name it. Please help me turn this into something we all look forward to checking each day.

There's literally zero way to stay safe free diving a cave with 1' cracks. You're literally playing Russian Roulette and any cave diver will tell you. This is like ripping down an interstate at over 100 miles an hour. You can have a long streak of luck. It only takes one issue to appear like lets say the oh so common threat of a black out and you're dead. If you value your life don't ever do this. Honestly imo this is more dangerous than jumping off a cliff in a wingsuit.....because at least there you have the right equipment.
@FordFalcon54

@@Subterfugeo Whether you take my word for it or not no there's plenty of others with much much more experience than myself that will say the exact same thing I'm going to say. No certified cave diver would ever encourage or support free diving a cave. The number of things that could go wrong leading to a death or multiple is too darn high. Like I said in my pervious comment it's basically flirting with death. You do you just understand the risks.

Brian, I see that you replied but I am having trouble seeing the full message. This is my concern with promoting this. Certified cave divers carry three sources of light, for a reason. If the flashlight fails somehow, hit on a rock, bulb goes out, batteries die, you're in trouble. You could have some scuba diver in your way on one of the exits. What you do is your own business, I am not telling you to stop, not my place. What I am saying is please consider the possible result of this. I spend a lot of my time gaining and keeping access for certified cave divers at sights like these. Nothing threatens access like a death, like this site just had three weeks ago. Even though the person was an open water diver or a free diver the newspaper will say "Cave Diver". Its sets my sport back in access and restricts sights to us because "Cave Diving" is dangerous. Most of the fatalities in caves are not certified cave divers, they are open water diver, and now possibly free divers. I am sure you don't want to read in the paper about some 15-year old who decided free dive through the shocker restriction, and didn't make it. Then to find out they closed the site to diving because it too dangerous.
@SylvesterMuller
@SylvesterMuller 9 жыл бұрын
***** I agree with you in principle, unfortunately I can point out several instances of wrongful death lawsuits that don't follow the personal responsibility guideline. Lastly, I do my best to keep open water scuba divers out of the cave zone, where they are not supposed to be. Here we have free divers going into a cave zone, it breaks no laws, but it violates standards set up by certifying agencies and sites like Blue Springs. Its one thing if you want to violate safety standards yourself, the worst thing that could happen is we would come out a recover your body, we have to try to keep the site open, and the newspapers will write about another "Cave Diving Death". Its another thing to film yourself violating safe diving standards and broadcast it.
@SylvesterMuller
@SylvesterMuller 9 жыл бұрын
***** I do care about people staying out of cave zones. I am the vice chairman of the largest cave diving association in the world. We install grim reaper signs, put lines in caves, train cave divers, and educate untrained divers to stay out of cave zones. When we strated in the 70's there were about 30-40 deaths a year. I have personally assisted in body recovers, and the post-accident analysis. This is a relly bad idea and should not be promoted, that's it, there no way to sugar coat it. These guys are very good free-divers I get that. Going into a cave zone with just one source of light or no light is on a breath hold will qualify you for a darwin award.
@martinfroelich7193
@martinfroelich7193 8 жыл бұрын
I agree with Sylvester. The trouble with doing such an extremely dangerous thing over and over again, is that after a while the danger of it is no longer felt by the participants. Then it is only a matter of time before the inevitable accident. People like Sylvester are left with the dirty work of collecting bodies, and negotiating access for those who dive responsibly. I get the adrenaline rush, really I do - but there must be other ways of getting that. Life is too precious to risk like this. It's selfish and extremely short-sighted.
@squarecracker
@squarecracker 2 жыл бұрын
@@martinfroelich7193 Free diving is fundamentally different than scuba. Free divers KNOW that we don't have any oxygen. If you are going down into the caves, you know what you're getting into. It's entierly different than someone going down with oxygen and getting lost or disoriented.

There are trainings and certification. I’m Molchanov certified it’s one of the most strict they don’t certify you until you actually do all the skills well.. so I took my time. Aida is the most popular and oldest. Ssi and padi has a training as well. I’m a scuba diver first and free diving is different, it’s a lifestyle you have to keep training even when you’re home or out of the water.

Hi. I am a teenager new to the sport of freediving. Freediving is fascinating to me, but I don't have any formal training and thus, don't really know how to practice. I can't find that many valuable resources online, so I was wondering if you had any tips for me such as good C02 or O2 tables, or your preferred exercises and breath-holding techniques. I would really appreciate it if you could help me out. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
