Missing cards in Decklist link are 2x Emmara since the site is not updated with the new cards. The decklist comes from Kapala and I've been asked multiple times from several people to try out Yawg, but never had the reason to until today seeing a new card added to the deck, so I was like why not! If you are also interested in sharing your decklist(does not mean I will play the deck, but I will still check it out nonetheless), check out discord.gg/fauwHaEF we have a pretty nice community here. I wouldn't try this in Timeless as you will just lose to Bloodmoon. I have already tried to make abzan mana work in timeless but failed multiple times, since vs. bloodmoon fetching a Plain might even lose you the game with how strict the mana can be in this deck.

This video is apparently a top hit for people searching to learn how to play the deck, which is great. I like how you explain your reasoning and you play well :) Since it's a top hit, though, I have some comments. Overwhelm from Emmara is a good option in some hands (especially when the other choices are bricks). Against decks that are trying to go tall (e.g. hammer time) your 1/1s are good blockers but you can also get more than wide enough for overwhelm to be relevant. With even just one ropeline attendant hitting your hand, overwhelm becomes a real option: playing two ropeline'd one drops effectively reduces the cost of overwhelm by 2. With the chord at 4:15 you can get blood artist and it's lethal. Whenever young wolf comes back, you can sac the new token it makes to remove the +1/+1 counter and then sac the young wolf with no target for the -1/-1 counter. This combo is not available to Yawgmoth decks in modern and I've seen the line missed by other people too! Another note about this combo: you can choose to target the wolf that you're sacrificing for the -1/-1 counter. Yawgmoth's ability will fizzle, and you do not draw a card. This allows you to activate Yawgmoth 1.5x as many times as there are cards in your deck. When your chords are buried very deep, this is occasionally relevant for squeezing damage out of blood artist or gaining a bit of extra health with a second innkeeper. At 8:10, I'm virtually certain that Hapatra is the right Chord target, but for the reason you work out a little bit later, not to wipe their board. When you untap with this much mana and two chords, I find it helpful to take a second to count how much I can double chord for. With experience you learn some tricks for counting this quickly. For example, the first chord pays one to the second chord, and when the first chord gets Hapatra (and your opponent has enough bodies), you can double count all the non-Yawgmoth creatures that convoke the first chord. Here we have 3 lands and 3 creatures, we can double count two of them, so 3 (lands) + 3 (creatures) + 2 (hapatra "untapping") + 1 (hapatra) = 9. So we have enough to chord X=2 and then chord again X=1, and we haven't played a land yet this turn. So with some practice, in only a few seconds here we can identify that as soon as we draw a land, we can chord for blood artist. With this foresight, at 8:30, we'd already have been able to chord for the blood artist. We will still run out of sac fodder eventually with this board, but the opponent dies first: they lose one life per toughness on their creatures + another life per creature, which is enough. If opponent had much more life for some reason, we'd actually have enough board to chord for a young wolf too. So this kill isn't 100% deterministic at the start of the turn, but it's very, very likely - and it's also the safest line, since the way we miss lethal (draw blood artist before untapped land) still wipes their board and maintains our life total. At 10:10, you _can_ chord another inkeeper. Use your treasure to play a Young Wolf, then sacrifice the wolf instead of a snake. You get the wolf back and a snake, so you've turned your one treasure into two convoke mana. But given your opponent's deck and your dominant position on the board, I'd be thinking about how to win if your opponent happens to have a red wrath, which is probably their only real out right now (we can kill any more creatures they play at instant speed). Most of those only do 3 damage, so Yawgmoth would survive. You have blood artist and a wolf in hand - holding the chord to fetch another young wolf feels like the safe play to me. at 31:00 you can play innkeeper and both wolves, then chord for a Yawgmoth (pay by tapping 7 creatures), draw until you find a second chord, then chord for blood artist (or you can just cast blood artist if you draw it). But there's no reason to do this - your opponent is already under pressure to answer your board and probably has countermagic up. Also worth mentioning that you can play innkeeper and then cast the Yawgmoth in your hand using the treasure and goose, but this doesn't leave you enough excess mana to play any wolves, so you wouldn't be able to draw deep. I won't comment on all the games in detail, but as a pilot of this deck, if you're aware of the key lines that come up a lot and you get practice looking for them, thinking through your lines like Takobyte does will get you the rest of the way :)

I know I’m a bit late, but thank you so much for the detailed comment. I crafted this the other day to try out a challenging new deck, and honestly I’ve been hating it so far. Feel like with so few cards that can draw / fetch I oftentimes find myself with a handful of weenies, empty my hand, then I’m just at the mercy of top decks, praying I find a Chord or Yawg. Comments and videos like these give me more encouragement to stick with it as obviously there appears to be a lot of nuance / skill in how you play it. How often are you mulliganing away hands that aren’t obvious mulls (1-0 landers). Should I not be keeping hands that don’t have a Yawg or convoke? Any specific SB cards you’ve been utilizing? Any other tips or ways to make the deck more enjoyable would be greatly appreciated! I’ve been playing the newest version from Kapala with Sorin / marionettes (instead of artist)

@@alexrixey975 I don't like the marionnettes personally, certainly not the version with 4 of them. They make the combo require too many pieces and remove a crucial win condition against decks with answers: chording for blood artist when they tap out, even if you don't already have an innkeeper. I've been finding more success with extra toolbox creatures in the deck, (one) Sorin as the main win condition, and (one) zulaport cutthroat as a backup instant-speed win condition that also sometimes protects against board wipes or draws removal from the opponent. My toolbox creatures at the moment (one each) are ocelot pride, suncleanser, loaming shaman, and skyclave apparition. Ocelot pride can make huge amounts of convoke mana (and power, but the convoke mana is usually more relevant) out of almost nowhere. Suncleanser turns off the most popular deck in the format and also hoses Aetherworks Marvel which I see more of than I'd expect. Loaming shaman turns off all the styles of reanimator decks, can be good against dredge, and is also good against the occasional mill deck. If you see the Breach the Multiverse reanimator deck a lot, Boromir might be a better main deck toolbox target than loaming shaman - Boromir helps the game 1 matchup against control quite a lot. For sideboard cards you should have all 4 juggernaut peddlers and one Eladamri for control (but only bring in all 4 when you're on the draw). An extra suncleanser since they can often answer the first one. One Phyrexian Revoker for Belcher / Karn / the mirror / Nadu / etc. Linvala and Drannith Magistrate are also good hate cards though they don't seem as good in this meta. Thoughtseizes or fatal pushes can be very good on the draw in some matchups although I'm not playing all 4 right now. There's a lot of options! I think cutting Emmara was the right move for the deck, but it does reduce our range of keepable hands since Emmara is a threat about 50% of the time. I used to keep a counter of how many games were won just by casting ancient imperiosaur. So, that considered, how often will I keep a 0-1 land hand? Almost never, but it depends on the other cards and if I know what my opponent is doing. If I know my opponent can't interact with me, it's game 3 on the play, and I have enough mana dorks to win with my one land, I'll keep it. You generally don't want to keep a hand with no threat (knight, yawg, or chord) but you can keep hands with very strong hate cards for the matchup or which have rope line attendant and some stuff for it to hit. Rope line hitting wolf can be game-winning as it lowers the barrier to your combo. Sometimes waiting to play attendant until after you play a knight is a good idea to increase the chance that this happens. At the end of the day it's a combo deck. If you don't draw yawgmoth(s) or chord(s) it's very hard to win. "Better lucky than good," so the saying goes. That said, the deck is well-positioned against Boros energy IMO and the control matchup is semi-reliable which makes the deck a good choice overall. I think if you're struggling with runs of bad luck you can switch to playing in best of 1 for a bit - (1) it helps focus on what you are doing rather than the opponent, (2) our main board hate cards steal a lot of free wins, (3) bo1 uses a hand-smoothing algorithm so you'll almost never see a 0 or 1 land hand.

I would recommend covering Kethis Combo next time. It's a very strong deck and ive managed to get a 75% win rate with MystMin's list over 200+ matches

Why not Revoker* (sorry, tired) the Ninja's Ninjustsu ability? I'm pretty sure this worked with Lantern of Insight decks in the day on the Ninja of Deep Hours. I'm guessing the Foundry is more broken though.

Happy to see people finally giving the Alchemy cards their due. A lot of those cards are really busted and people were sleeping on them because “they’re not real cards”

46:39 nahh purge imo is a good card for the format to keep aggro in check, without womthing like it creature decks would run rampant and create a less fun format, or well less diverse at least with control being pushed out almost completely. (could've argued in the dc server, but wanted to boost the algorithm a little :P )

Why does it exile non creatures though 🤔 Black 3 mana board wipe is 2 mana or less creatures only, red 3 mana board wipe you have to select creatures or artifacts. For some reason, white takes away both creatures and artifacts, and it's 3 mana or less. Not to mention, it also hits lands. And exiling a card usually comes at a pretty premium cost, but all of this all come at a 3 mana card. It's a ridiculous card.

@@Takobyte Well white has been historically the color of boardwipes, so naturally they're gonna hev the best one, that's not so say i'm absolutely for a buff of black boardwipes zero complaints from me if wizards chose to make the black one from 2 to 3, opposite actually bc then blue black would get a lot stronger. overall that's just the rate that's necessary to be good in a format that fast. also in a way the red ones actually have some more utility bc it can also only hit artifacts and leave your creatures unharmed, which for red black creature decks is more beneficial than everything being gone. also a change to one or more on brotherhoods end would make the card almost too good. So yeah it's a necessary rate at this point, I agree very strong, but that's just the format at this point...

Well 3 mana boardwipe just spells for trouble for future design space for aggro cards. It's just going to get faster and faster. I don't think something like divine purge does anything good. The card is even good vs. Some noncreature decks.
