Building a fire. 1. Clear surface and cut a square of turf, place it aside and remove the soil to a depth of a hand deep ie 6 inch place it on a plastic bag aside. 2. Line the bottom with thick wood branches and then build your fire and if possible edge the fire with rocks. 3. Use the fire. 4. extinguish the fire when not needed. 5. Replace the soil and turf and distribute rocks and cover with dead fall before leaving as if you was never there. You will leave a trace from the way you built your fire.

What lovely memories you have made for a young man on his first wild camp! I was well into my 20s before I tried wild camping for the first time and it is one of the real joys in my life. Might be worth picking up a DD 3x3 tarp and ridge line to hang over your hammock for a dry night hanging in the trees. I enjoy the simplicity and honesty of your videos, Liam, and thank you for using a natural, peaceful soundtrack.

Yeah would second that, it’s a great little stomp with some awesome wild camping spots and bays along route. Personally would love to do it again, but with a bivvy in summer would be magic!

I had a cracking 16 days at my own pace walking from Exeter to lands end, years ago, some days I barely walked any distance, other days 20+ miles, great weather and a fair few foraged meals (though I pretty much lived on pasties and cider once I got into Cornwall).

I don’t know how feasible this is but a subscriber camp would be really cool. Invite a few willing subs along on a camp, obvs they bring their own gear but you could help some newer people get into the wild camping.

I like all your expeditions, you have some great advice and tips. Plus the scenary is epic. There's some great places to go in UK. Ever considered going to Ireland for a few adventures. Kilarney and the national Park is well worth visit.... Plus I've heard wicklow mountains is nice. There's loads of places I'd love to camp and walk in myself, maybe one day I'll have the guts to try.
