I'm an Apatani tribal from ARUNACHAL Pradesh, India. The tattoo and clothing patterns are similar to ours. But instead of head hunting, our ancestors practiced hand and ear hunting!!

From their dress and the lifestyle they had, and their headhunting behaviours, they are similar to our ancestors who were commonly known as Lushai-Mizo. Their white clothing are also similar to the clothing we have, which was known as Tawlhlohpuan.....

I learned about the Seediq thanks to the band Chthonic, especially in their album "Seediq Bale". It's pretty tragic, but I applaud for this tribe's honorable bravery.

I'm northeast indian from Arunachal pradesh in China border .We share some similarities in dress ,culture ..not some but upto 70% I would say coz we moved from China to india ..we have changed but still we had headhunting culture n dance move that they did .I think they are our ancestor ...but we don't soeak like Chinese .our language is like them but not Chinese . We used to fight like them tribe against tribe like even 100 yrs bck .We lost track of our history but I can feel it like we share the same bondings .we are not very religious but we have our religion ..but mostly beliefs in spiritual form of everything n we worship Sun n moon .😁

And you completely drove past the fact that the very same government that used the Seediq rebellion as anti-Japanese propaganda was also responsible for wiping out their culture. The Chinese Nationalist Party, or Kuomintang, imposed a Mandarin-only policy in the education system. This essentially made them no better than the Japanese before them, or the Manchu Empire before them. All of Taiwanese society has a lion's share of the blame for the loss of indigenous culture in the Austronesian Homeland, including many indigenous themselves.

Taiwanese indigenous people are similar to some tribes in Indonesia (Kalimantan Island and Buton Island).. The old Dayak tribes were the head hunting too. The Buton people speak similar language to the Taiwan's aborigines.

I think what the professor was trying to say is different from your viewpoint; the subduing of the Seediq, while sad in its own way and from the Seediq’s point of view, isn’t necessarily bad when looked at from the larger context of society. After all, how do the myriad peoples and tribes in Taiwan coexist peacefully if one of them have a custom of cutting off heads of people whom they deem enemies? I’m not defending the Japanese in any way but just pointing out the inevitability of the situation with the Seediqs.

Tribes cutting off each other's heads for good luck is not living peacefully in the forest. That is constant low level guerilla warfare. I admire the courage of the Seediq people for fighting against the odds with the Japanese to keep their land and way of life, but that way of life was not particularly noble or admirable.

Who gave u the measurement stick of what is or isnt noble, they are free people and they can choose to live how they see fit within their territory, it brought them honor. I see your name is tezcatlipoca, aztec also believed that war brought honor. Almost every indigenous culture did. Even animals fight for the rite to be top cheif and for mating reasons.

@@JesusPerez-tv5ur Tezcatlipoca is the smoking mirror who sees all and is the avatar of change through violence and trickery among other attributes. Tezcatlipoca is not merely a Mesoamerican God's name, it has deeper meanings and not just cultural affiliation. Everyone makes judgements every day. Hitler was free to do what he chose in his territory. Tell me you don't measure him? Cutting off another person's head to prove you are a "real" man and are then allowed to cross the rainbow bridge to the afterlife when you die is not a noble belief. Neither was cutting out hearts to feed the Sun blood so it would rise in the morning. Those traditions lead nowhere, honor be damned, I'll trade it for honesty any day. Indigenous people are not sacrosanct any more than Hitler. We are animals with innate drives and needs but also with the abilities to know more of the past than our own experiences and to predict the consequences of our actions farther in the future than other species. We judge and modify our behaviors and make choices based on that knowledge. Usually we still don't think far enough ahead and unintended side effects bite us in the butt. Acknowledging my humanity gave me the measurement stick.
