Having always paid for new tyres to be fitted I have recently bought All Terrains for my Jeep and spent a few hours fitting them myself.. once you break the bead it's easy as.. setting the bead on the rim was fun with a can of easy start and a lighter.. I'd recommend anyone to give it a go.. easy as.. I just used 2 24" tyre levers and a pry bar..

Ah its good to see the young folk giving it a go . With a pair of tyre levers you could have that soft ,wet franger of there in less than 2 minutes. The bead was already broken so that saved him 2 minutes.

you are correct tire bars are awesome to wok with. Usually all i have available on a regular basis is ,my jack my tire tool(piece with a lug nut socket on 1 end and a end that looks like a big flat head screwdriver) and a flat head screwdriver or 2.

yeah when i made this one i believe i was having a issue breaking the bead tried everything from running over tire to using fire to pop the seal. Some one at my local tire shop that installed the tire on the rim decided that you didnt need to get the tire on the rim right for it to hold air you can just slop about 30 gallons of bead sealer on it and your good to go.lol

Thats NOT the easiest way to remove the second bead at all, stand that tire back up, the bead automatically gets to the lowest part of the inside of the wheel and slide the prybar/screwdriver/beadspoon (proper tool if you do this much) pull it back to straight and attempt to insert a second pry tool, push the wheel into the second bead with your knee and pry the tire off the second bead with the already inserted tools I do this as part of my employment as a mechanic working on tractor trailers, we do ALL tires by hand there, lube the bead with the slimiest stuff you can find, here at home I use dawn dish soap and windshield washer fluid with the alcohol mixed in. I have removed 4 235/75/15 tires from aluminum wheels, and NOT scratched any of the finish off the wheels, and just changed all 4 tires on my ATV within the past 2 weeks.

Bud get yourself an Iron/prybar around 4 feet long, then you can talk to it.

Yeah once u figure it out its pretty simple to do check out other video were i break the bead and everything i shot it after i leaned how to do it correctly think the whole process takes about 3 min from start to finish

For goodness sake, don't do this out in the wild. I counted about 7 slips with the screwdriver, several with the screw driver deflecting to the body, hitting with hands, and leaving the screw driver between the bead and rim, waiting to become an airborne eye-missile. If you are out there and injure yourself it could be game over. Buy a tyreplyer, some good quality levers, carry some lube for the beads (on the tyres, not for......) carry strong tough gloves, and go sloowly. Apart from that...Excellent Video!

nah as long as u take your time you wont mess it up. you do have to watch expecially if u use something pointy say a screwdriver because the inner ring will rip or get cut really easily and then u can just scrap the tire

@crutksdub Its really easy to get them off the rim. The only hard part is breaking the bead on the rim after that its just a matter of hold your tongue in the right direction until it pops off the rim

@dannyrose177 Around here they charge $4 to take tires off of the rim. This was a old spare tire i had laying around. I would not do this to aluminum rims.

@1liverpool1000 This was actually my second time changing a tire on a normal rim, i usually work on big ol tractor tires where you use a crowbar and sledge hammer to break the tire off

dont sound to bad the bigger the tire get actually the easier it becomes we do this on tractor wheels about once or twice a month and they are a bout 10 Feet tall by about 5 foot wide and if you have 2 people and 3 crowbars it is so much easier than trying to do it yourself but it is doable with just one person

@bobisnohere1 never tried to balance one before just usually put them on and rolled with it. I Will ask around though that would be something handy to know.

steel rims i wouldnt worry about scratching u just dont want to take anything big out that would let the bead not seal, but for these videos i had a few mismatches rims and tires that was heading for the scrap yard

lol you have to make sure you get the bead busted with a jack or running over it before you even attempt to get the rim off of the tire or it is not going to happen well only time i got it to work was with a tubed tire on a tractor and you dont get the bead set on those like you would a car tire. and hey if you cant get it it only cost 5 bucks to get a tire changed

there was actually a couple comments about glitches throughout the video had a few of friends watch it then said they didnt have problems but it spite of that i went ahead and made another one while i was still good at removing tires think i did it in 3 minutes and something i uploaded that video also and it is a complete tire change from busting the bead and everthing

Now try a Low profile Semi slick tire.. haha its much easier with the right tools.. though... quite expensive to get them!

@13098519 yeah thats how we done it on tractor tires where we could get more leverage on it. i did this to about 40 rims in less than a week if i would have just had 1 or 2 tires i would have taken it to a shop and have them take them off for $3 each

lol i know but its been a good debate on the subject i believe when i was making the video my editor instead of going by 60 sec for a min it would go 1-100 so you could edit the frames easier have no idea what the exact time was but i think there is a comment somewhere saying exact time

How do you take off the second bead so easily? Is it easier to take it off from the front or back of the wheel? Do you grease the wheel? I have been struggling with this damn thing for over 2 days and when I release tension on the spoon, it simply pops back in!! GRRRRR!!!!!

@Azeroth1117 I took one off the rim,, I had to break down the bead that had been on the rim for years so that added time. If I had one already loose I think could do it in a minute.

The tools you used may destroy the rims of the wheel and the tire, better using some tools with wider and smooth blades.

my autotech teacher has a record of deflating , removing the rims , putting them back on , and then inflating it in a 1.5 minutes .

actually rim is reusable we do this all the time on our tractors. these ones in the video where heading for the scrap yard though. tip only do this on steel rims

My 14 year old daughter can Unmount a tire in less that 90 seconds .. This guy is doing it all wrong... First of all You put your foot Weight at 6 o clock and Start with your Tools at 12 o clock All rims have a smaller Diameter in the Center of the rim.. use this as an advantage It makes the tire look smaller ..and easier to get off the rim.. Of course I am 70 years old and we had no easy equipment . I can unmount a tire in 30 seconds by hand ..

i had a tire i tried to get off of a s-10 rim and the tire shop that installed it used alot of bead sealer and even with cutting the tire with a sawz all and trying to burn it off i had to end up scrapping the rim and they wouldnt even pay anything for scrap because so much of the tire was still glued to the rim
