Nice couple, nice channel, but I can't believe you missed tasting Montreal's smoked meat, from Swhartz, Ben's, Dunn's etc... Poutine was invented in Québec, the Montreal kind of bagel is very well known, quite different from New-York, but the "Montreal smoked meat" is from another planet! :) You have to come back to try it, and I offer to be your personal guide for that day! (I am a history buff and know my city by hearth!) :)

Thank you for the nice words. My lovely wife does most of the research and she probably didn't seek out smoked meat places as she's not a fan for some reason. I promise to stick up for trying the Montreal smoked meat. We've gotten a lot of comments on how good it is.

I am proud of you guys for finding the old school Montreal bagel shops. I always try to get my bagel warm from the oven but we don’t always have that luxury. I recommend heating them up uncut in a toaster oven if possible so it’s crisp on the outside and still soft in the middle

You were wise to take the train. Traffic in Montreal is extremely challenging. No smoked meat? Pity. Most Montrealers prefer the plain sesame or poppy seed bagels, warm out of the oven, I think. It is a terrific city, my home -- a US expat.

I can't tell what's more addicting: Montreal bagels or this channel. Can't wait for the next episode! Side note: I've noticed that Americans usually pronounce Montreal as "mawn-tree-all", whereas English Canadians typically pronounce it as "munn-tree-all". But is seems like the US pronunciation is actually much closer to the original French name.

So cute that you are afraid of ferries (or was?) I lived on Montreal bagels in the 80s. They were $2.00/dozen & when they were fresh from the oven you would eat at least half by the time you got home.

The Biodome is part of a multi-instution organisation called 'Espace piur La Vie/Space for Life' that includes the botanical garden, the Insectarium and a planetarium (planetarium is apparently not that impressive) and you can get an annual subscription to all four that's about the cost of three or four tickets total to any of them and you get unlimited visits.

Do they openly speak English in public whether-or-not they are talking to you (i.e. do they normally speak to each other in English?)?
