We're taking what is considered one of the least desirable Jeeps and making it a true off-road machine. We'll replace a worn out straight 6 with a re-built fuel injected 350 V-8. All this, with a real world budget in mind.

finaly i found this episode of the yj. my dad has a yj of the same type and its all built up on a budget. a body lift, suspention lift, big 35" tires, lockers front and rear and more

It's just the 4.2 hooked up to the absolute garbage peugeot transmission. If it was the 4.0l with ax15 I would agree

I did this but I swapped a 304 for a 360. It fit perfectly.

I have a 90 yj. I've got 12 bolt axles under it from an 85 k5 blazer but I want to go ahead and ditch the leaf springs. I'm thinking jk or tj Dana 44s. What would you recommend if you were in my shoes?

Ok when can I send you my Yj I've owned since I was 15 years old my dad bought it for me on my 16th birthday I'm 47 and still have it need it to be smog legal

now all you see for sale is junk v8 swapped YJ's... and finding one with the 4.0L is hard as hell.

With all the connections and knowledgeable people here on the show you guys could have built that 4.2L 258 to preform and show it's TRUE potential instead of just another SBC Jeep. Those builds are as common as belly buttons. Newcomer Racing is building I6 Jeep engines capable of more power and torque than a stock Dodge Demon on race gas. I'm glad you guys have Jeep love, especially the YJs but the SBC just kills it.

The stretched out aspect ratio is giving me a headache. Put black bars on the sides or something and keep the original aspect ratio.

Least desired really? And why not do a 4.7 stroker instead of the tired old 350 that has been done to death

🤣 I like how they say, "it's all easy"! Come on guys.... Sure, why fixing I6 or replace it with a good one for $1000 if you can spend $15k and get this?🤣 In this case it is cheaper to sell the car for 5-6 k, add those 15 k and buy a 2011 wrangler Great project but does not worth it at all for 95% of people
