• taking anti-depressant...
When I started anti-depressants it was so hard to find any personal experiences - hopefully this can help in some way
The sooner we start talking more freely about mental illness the better!

Have you tried seeing an endocrinologist to have your hormones tested?? Because the other things that can effect your mind negatively is hormones and also gut health. Gut health is major. If my stomach is bad I can get into seriously bad mental health days. But also, antidepressants did not work on me. At all. I never felt better on them. Which made me think it wasn’t a brain problem. And I was correct. My hormone levels were all over the place. And apparently it’s not uncommon either for females and males.

That is why these doctors needs to rule out all other possibilities before prescribing these medications. We need to advocate for this. Not to get me mistaken for I know depression is real, anxiety is real, mental health is real. However, psychiatrist and GP need to rule out other issues that can mimic mental health.

@@mentalhealthheadache Sooner or later anti-depressants have major side effects. It is quite easy to stop AD if you are determined. Get rid of the root cause-why are you taking AD? Mind is going crazy. I transformed my life some years back. After 10 days of doing the simple meditation which I have explained below take pills on alternate days, then once in 3 or 4 days, once a week and after 20 days of daily meditation stop medication as the neurons in the brain gets re-programmed but for SOS keep the medicine with you and take it only when necessary. Continue daily meditation as follows---Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing anxiety-stress. For a relaxed life without anxiety-stress sit on a chair, back erect, hands on lap with palms upwards, eyes closed, be still and observe your incoming--outgoing breath, body sensations, any soft buzzing sound in the head for around 10-15 minutes. Be as still as possible. Plenty of thoughts will come which is ok--slowly negative thoughts will reduce and your mind will relax with no desire for pills. Morning and night before sleep are good time to meditate. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.

@@jcbanbury I was on it for five months at 50mg and stopped cold turkey at the advice of my Doctor. Shakes & tremors, nightmares and night terrors, extreme anxiety attacks, insomnia, weight loss, brain zaps, headaches and migraines, chronic fatigue, flu-like symptoms and mood swings. Most of the side effects have gone now after roughly 14 days, but sometimes I get waves of symptoms. I'm taking multivitamins, Berocca (Vit B), cod liver and vitamin D 1000iu. Eating healthy and exercising a lot, though if I exercise too much I seem to get anxiety attacks. One anxiety attack was so bad I had to call an ambulance because I thought I was dying.

This dosage is too high... you need something else.. a thyroid test with antibodies and hormone test is crucial. Cbd oil in low doses and Xanax in low doses( they cannot be taken together) with a new antidepressant might help. This advice is just advice. I’m a nurse with psych background- not a psychiatrist. @ Mudi Gowayed It is good that you replied. Thank you for doing so. There is a wall up in mainstream media which keeps many of us who speak about what the psych drugs did to us on them, but especially in withdrawals off them. On Facebook I help many people who have terrible withdrawals off psych drugs. There are many Facebook groups which deal with the effects of withdrawals off these psych drugs. It does depend upon which psych drugs a person is on, but across the board these people seeking help to endure the symptoms during withdrawals are a mounting movement who suffer greatly with the long-term effects of withdrawal off many of the current and even older psych drugs. Please pay attention to what I am about to tell you: At the age of 26 I was in a severe equestrian accident wherein the huge hybrid draught horse I was riding fell and crushed me. I went into Shock for about four months after that. The day of the accident I went to Hospital Emergency and the two Residents, doctors in training, missed an awful lot of what my injuries were. I moved to another Province in Canada very soon after the accident. I began to have symptoms that, when I spoke with my sister who was studying Psychology at the time, she determined were evidence of what she called A Chemical Imbalance. A small town Country doctor began to give me pills for the suspected Chemical Imbalance. Now, to be very clear, I had severe injuries such as a Collapsed Ribcage which had collapsed onto my spine. I had internal organ damage and could not bear children despite later getting married twice in my thirties. During the whole time of my poly drugging on all kinds of cocktails of different psych drugs I could not feel my body at all. On the different psych drugs over the course of my 30s, I was reinjuring my body over and over. The psychiatrists were baffled as to why the myriad of different treatments of psych drug combinations were not getting me help for continued incomprehensible symptoms. They agreed to let me stop taking them and assigned a psych nurse to help me taper off them over the course of a year. On them I had had several hospitalizations. I was thirty years old when on Prozac I attempted suicide. A great many news reports and Scientific reports have shown that with Prozac there is a risk of suicide. You may have heard of this. I came off all the psych drugs April 1st 2001. I was 39 that year. I had been on those psych drugs for about 11 years. All that time I could not feel my body. When the psych drugs were leaving my body I began to feel the injuries. In initial withdrawal I felt as if someone had ripped off a bandage the full length of my spine and it was pulsing red hot lava-like and so painful that I used to pass out frequently. The withdrawals took five years to end. The pains and visible injuries are with me to this day, twenty years later. The psych drugs had masked the injuries because the injuries were deep and internal. I met people who were also on psych drugs in that time of my poly drugging. Some even received Electro Shock. I did not. These people, many of them, are now dead. I came off the psych drugs. They did not. I remain alive and they are dead. Moreover, on the psych drugs I lost an awful lot. My inheritance was torn from me due to the incompetence which was attributed to me while I was on psych drugs. My Power of Attorney was removed as well during that time. I had my Power of Attorney restored only several years after I had stopped the psych drugs. You see, I regained my mind and powers of reasoning after stopping the psych drugs. I fought hard to stay alive during withdrawals. I did die briefly one day in 2002. The rising toxicity was too much for my organs to process out of my body. Our body's natural balance means that it pushes out foreign invaders and psych drugs are like poisons to the body in actual fact. I have friends who have not been able to get off their psych drugs. One has been on Effexor for over two decades. He has Tardif Dyskonesia which means that he flicks his tongue from each corner of his mouth unconsciously repeatedly. Friends on the newer psych drugs who have come off them have involuntary muscle movement called Akethesia. It is a direct result of the psych drugs. Imagine? Involuntary muscle movement that doesn't cease? Can you imagine?! I couldn't feel my body in my thirties. Now I have felt a whole heap of pain ceaselessly for twenty years. And, No, there's no way that I would go back on the psych drugs which made me a Zombie and a sitting duck for various thieves who entered my life or who were in my life as family members who stole from me what they could. My new family doctor says that they treat patients with Chronic Pain with psych drugs. I tell him that that is not a good idea. These people on these drugs risk losing livelihoods and other assets. They also do die relatively young. You can check The Guardians film out of California. What they say in the film is very true and understood by so many : When it comes to seniors all you have to do is Isolate. MEDICATE. TAKE THE ESTATE. In Quebec Canada where I live many people see that these psych drugs make people into Zombies because the medical people have glutted the population with prescriptions of these types of drugs. A Denis Arcand film from here is called in English Quebec Overprescribed. You ask for evidence in Scientific journals, but there are none because it doesn't suit their Narrative and the power behind selling these drugs to people to dumb them down. If you are looking for the truth in mainstream you won't get it. I have to get on the Inversion Table shortly because it is the thing that is finally helping me to stretch out old painful scar tissue. I have trouble with my right wrist, my writing hand, because the arms too were deformed and I didn't feel this when I was polydrugged, but you can see it in photos of me in my thirties. There's a lot that a person can't see when on psych drugs. I will leave it there. There's a lot I haven't added that should be added. Suffice it to say : Consider this a while -- There's a lot that a person cannot see while on psych drugs.

Mainstream has a wall up keeping our Survivor stories out of public information. This is deliberate and many of us know exactly why this is so. Dumbing the people down suits governments really well on many levels. None the least of which is getting seniors money. And harvesting young people's organs when they suicide on these psych drugs. It's a lucrative racket for any government. It stays out of mainstream news for this reason and for the fact that Big Pharma owns much of the mainstream media. TV stations sell advertising time and they pay the Piper doing so. Those who aren't on any psych drugs know that psych drugs are creating people who they consider to be Zombies.

@@christystrike4751 I am very sorry to hear what you were going through. I know the withdrawal symptoms can be devastating. I got off venlafaxine. At first I got off the drugs too fast. It was horrible but it was my mistake. Then I got off gradually and I had no problems with that. Most people try to get off the drugs much too fast. Some need a few weeks, some others many months. The key in my opinion is to give yourself enough time. Unfortunately my depression came back one year later. Then I began to take Sertraline. That was the best decision because today I'm able to function as normal as before the depression. Bye the way I have just minor side effects from Sertraline. but in my case they are very very effective. I know that just about 50% of the people benefit from psych drugs but for many as myself these drugs are life saving. But I know that many physicians hand them out like candies although many people are not in need of the drugs.
