Very smart of him and truly hungry players will always do that. It would be a waste to play sets with someone and not look for what they're seeing when they're winning or even if it's close.

It's pretty insightful too that he essentially says like, he doesn't have to know *what* Fatality is gonna do, what matters is that he knows he's going to do an attack and it really simplifies the game that once an opponent's habits are clear he can do less and keep getting more out of it until they adapt to what he's doing.

I commented about this on the peanut ft10 and someone thought everytime fatality was losing and played quietly meant he was salty. Far from that. He immediately asked for advice when he lost. Good players and sportsmanship from both sides.

Surely that depends on the person he's playing with. Peanut seems like a chatty guy while Glutonny is french and you can't play your best while your trying to speak a foreign language

Also Peanut’s in a position where he’s playing to learn, absolutely not to win. Fatality and Gluto don’t need that nearly as much as Peanut does so they can afford to be a lot more quiet.

I dont know but English is not Gluttony's first language so there can be a slight language barrier.

Yeah and it sucks because we all love to watch the aggression, but in this game, aggression is rarely rewarded over being patient... unless you are playing fox or pika or Roy or some character like that that can get away with it. Or at the very least, their aggressive options are harder to snuff out compared to Falcon's knee which is easy to beat with a higher priority hitbox (as happened at 30:50. Fatality got the weak knee that time, but Gluto KNEW he would do it the next, so just met him with a back air). I mean, think of how many lower-level players don't pick up on the aggressive habits and Fatality gets away with it. Habits are HARD to get rid of when you get away with it against almost every other player you've ever played. Gluto is in that mix of top 5 players that have that high of a level that they can see things like this. Anyway, agreed with both your and Eyad's comments here. Fatality wouldn't be as great to watch if he didn't go for shit all the time.

You can still be hyper-aggressive. You just need to know when to pull the trigger more. My guess is that once he feels threatened he pulls the trigger due to nerves or something, maybe even adrenaline? But the stuff Gluto said at the end is definitely true. He's a very aggressive player and when he plays the top 5 that just isn't going to work. Below that it'll work most of the time though. I also think the advice he gave at the end would apply to Marss pretty well.

@@jonteguy I was thinking about it and even if it doesn't look as hype watching him play. It will def be hype seeing him in grands or close to it in big tournaments. I'm not sure he is going to improve on tho. Judging by how they were talking at the end it seems like fatality doesn't really see his point yet.

@@jonteguy He does it because it's a defensive reaction to when someone sees through his neutral. When he loses control of the pace, he starts trying to brute force games and go for risky hail Mary's.

@@dask7428 then again, which character in Ultimate is truly optimised.... Each one of the representative best players of a character have something to work on. And hell yeah, bootcamping with Team Mexico, he had a tournament yesterday where he defeated Maister in winners semis and grand finals :)

A lot of that is also the character tho. Falcon doesn't have a lot of active hitboxes that he can use to threaten the ledge, and most moves only cover 1 or 2 options. Bair and nair are his safest options to use on the ledge, but even those got punished early on by a quick wario nair from the ledge into his devastating combo game.

This is a soft spike basically. Wario's stagger animation for it is just comical lmao. Most characters just kind of crumple and freeze in a hitstun animation.

I think he really wants to use the oportunity to be at CEO to train his main against very good players, such as Fatality here. In Europe he mostly goes for secondaries until he may lose, more as a way to entertain himself. But here, facing a strong opponent in a kind of "training session" he probably just want to perfect his skills and the match-up knowledge so he focused on his main. Gluto is currently in a phase where he got pretty good results but feels it's not enough at all so it seems he has no time to train secondaries for now and he focuses more on Wario in situations where he can face top players.
