To the uninitiated, actual, "fresh" lava is worth some serious money. It can be sold as 'chunks" " or it can be fashioned into all kinds of pieces, especially if it hardens into nice obsidian. That depends upon the mineral content of the material, and the actual rate of cooling, but those guys aren't doing this without something in mind.
