I’m not an ice racer, so on my tractor lug Rokon tires I put 1/2” sheet metal screws screws with 1/4” bit heads, 3 to a tractor bar, keeps me upright on ice, don’t have to swap the tires in the spring. I’m sure they could be sketchy on asphalt, but that’s not what a Rokon is about anyways.

Well damn- I used to think there wasn’t anywhere a Rokon couldn’t go- and that a studded Rokon would be unfuckingstoppable….

Perhaps, but a few screws were cheaper 🤣

Be a nice addition to your videos if you showed a topo map of the trails you ride. Be interesting to see the distance and elevation gains. Just a thought. I purchased a '99 Ranger. Haven't tried it yet.

That's a great idea! I typically try to get some aerial shots to give some perspective but the dense trees kind of limit me lol

It seems to me that studs are near worthless on snow. They are made for ice. Also I don't think you can blame the. Broken or bent parts on the Rokon, parts break, when you break them, replace them... good video still great bike. Keep it up... :)

Chains are the way to go, use them when needed. most of the videos are just for putting something up,

I wanna dwell for a moment on the stud addition here. Are those drywall screws, pushed thru from the inside of the tire? Maybe I missed a vid on how that was done. Not trying to be critical here, just asking, but are they maybe a bit too close together, causing the snow to be able to pack em up too much? I'm no expert. I like the idea of this, no doubt. They look super aggressive, sticking out 1.5 inches or so? Did any bend or break when you hit logs, ice, or other hard stuff? maybe that's the tradeoff of number of studs per area of tire -- if you have too few, they'll break off; too many, and they pack up? As a winter (pedal) biker myself, I always figured that studs were more for ice and aggressive tread for the snow. Would tire chains be better? I'd like to test out some of these ideas myself. Wondering your thoughts on it. Nice video. So hard to get perspective on the steepness of hills via camera, just to see what you're facing.

Agreed Too many to close together I think the factory tire would’ve worked ok in sticky snow Get on pegs and give it!!! Keep your balance keep your speed up and she’ll go!!

I think James Bradley would be better and also useful in mud and other situations to those studs don't look practical to me I have changed for all my vehicles including the rokon .they act like paddles and you can drive slowly in dry patches or hardback even rocks

I'm wondering how many of those screws broke off while driving and will now flatten tires or end up going through someone's shoe or pet's foot. Those look like straight up drywall screws which are notorious for snapping. Will definitely sub for more Rokon content though. I would definitely try chains if there is no issues with clearance. I can't wait to pick my Rokon up

Honestly, because there were so many screws in the tires it must have distributed the weight evenly, I checked them over and there wasn't a single screw broken 🤘 and thank you for the sub 🤘

*Why not use 'self-adjusting 'chock-blocks' right over the tires already there?* ______ *Not really suitable for 2-foot and higher snow and 'slush-snow & ice' unless you 'walk it out' but I wouldn't try it for real if I were alone in bad sh!t because 'If the machine dies I die with it'* _______ *Mountains in winter are a REALLY BAD IDEA to challenge* *My only real problem w/the 'Rokon' is the high fuel consumption...1/3 gal. per hour is really, really not 'good news' in a crisis* *Even with the 'reserves' built-in it's still not much on range* >>>*Ain't sayin' don't 'like it' because I would LOVE to have one w/a big ass trailer behind it!*
