Pranam Swamiji🙏🙏🙏🙏attachment with money and the other monetary things can be easily given up, but leaving the attachment with family, husband, kids is not easy. Why is it so? Does family also comes under materialistic thing?

While I am still struggling with the family attachments, which I feel is quite difficult to get over due to our responsibilitiestowards the family members, I have found out for myself that these responsibilities should be attended by considering that each of my family members is a version of Krishna himself and that I am serving Krisna in my family member form. Additionally, it may be advisable to reduce and ignore the passion and the resulting pain and anguish when these family members don't return the love and affection we have given to them. That way lesser heartburn and detachment slowly starts in our heart. Hope this helps. Thanks

Yes. We have to give up attachment to both worldly objects and worldly relatives. The stronger our attachment, the more difficult it will be. Why have we become attached to them? It's because we have repeatedly thought that 'this person is my father', 'this person is my mother', 'this person is my husband/wife' and so on. This repeated thinking (in a subtle way) has led to our attachment. When we practice thinking - 'God is my All-in-All', 'He is my Father, Mother, Husband, Child, Beloved and every other relationship that I can think of' - then our mind will become attached to God as well. Bhagavad Gita teaches us that everything becomes possible with practice. But before that, we have to first understand the philosophy. We are the souls, not the body which belongs to Maya. The soul belongs to God and God alone. God is our All-in-All. When this knowledge sinks deeply in our mind, it will not be difficult to give up attachment to worldly relatives. The problem right now is that our intellect doesn't accept this scriptural knowledge, even after hearing so many times. We have to remember that the family and friends we have are but temporary relationships in the soul's journey. When we die, we will leave alone and we may never meet our so-called family and friends. There are uncountable souls in God's material creation and we have had uncountable past lives as well. When we take birth next time, some others may become our family in that life. But because we develop our attachment to them, we go through the suffering ourselves. When we learn and accept this truth, we will naturally develop inner detachment towards everyone and everything. We do our duty while not being affected by the outcome. And when we do each work as an offering to God, it will reinforce our practice of karm-yog.

Beautiful explanation by Swamiji. ''Live in the world but don't let the world live in you'. This is the secret of spirituality and the easiest way to reach God. Where and which situation we live, what is our position and what action we do -every moment we should practice to think that God is with me and watching me. This world is not mine and God is mine. I am His servant and my only goal in life is to make Him happy.

Attachment to worldly things - name, fame, wealth, family, ideas, thoughts, etc. - are all obstacles to taking the mind to God. Repeated contemplation is what creates attachment to material things. If Swamiji is speaking Sanskrit verses from the Vedic scriptures, the video editor cannot translate the meaning. The scriptural verses are different, and even Sanskrit scholars won't be able to translate the true meaning of the verses. But most of the time, Swamiji explains the meaning of the verses afterwards.
