To be honest, seeing that the card uses an ESP32, they could probably very easily implement a small webserver to connect to using your phone and pick from that which game you want to play or in what order the games will appear. EDIT: The esp32 only needs a tiny antenna and some even tinnier passive parts(capacitors), the PCB looks like it has enough space to fit those. No you dont need an app to connect to it, just your browser on your phone. Also sending games with wifi is gonna take years cause the ESP32 is not fast enough for that.

No, he means the PS2. i.e where the Birthplace of VideoGame RE was born. PS2/GC/XBOX era is completely unlike any other - the hype of the HD consoles paired with the absolute beauty (and relatively hard to find much less even know about) of INT imports made for the most EXCITING times of reverse engineering. And it was everywhere. Region 0/1/2 DVD players to watch bootlegs and Chinese/Japanese movies, Limewire for music, early torrenting exes and the associated kookoo viruses, etc.@@matt5721

If the MIG switch is indistinguishable from a real cart, I don't see how this would solve anything. The MIG switch user could do the same as a user with a real cart.

Because of this flash card we know each NSW game has a unique identifier. If Nintendo wanted to they could let you copy card games to your Switch without need of ever reinserting the cart because they would have the ID. If you sold the game (which is why console manufacturers don't want to do this lets be real) and somebody inserted it into their system it would ping the servers and lock you out of the copy. They could do this and it wouldn't be a security risk or lose them money. But they won't do it because it would have zero financial benefit for them.

it’d be cool if they somehow figured out a way to use the signatures and certificates to run their own launcher masked as a game. dont know how you would go about switching around the certificates once you load the launcher but it would be a nice step in making a true NS flash card, like the ones the DS has.

It looks like files are listed in the order that you copy them, sometimes due to this it ends being a mess if you copy multiple ones at the same time. EZ Flash Jr has exactly the same problem, what I do it's use an old software called Drivesort and force them to list in Alphabetical order, save it and done. IDK if this will work but you should give a try and see if you can!

20/06/2024: Clarification on button use on V2 card. With the feedback we received from the first Mig Card V2 users, we realize we had to clarify something about the game switching button. We use purposely a thin button because, as you can see in the video below, it is meant to also be used with the game card slot cover closed. We think it is more convenient and since you don't really need to open it once your games are on the Mig microSD, it is just cleaner and looks better. Of course, you can also use it with the game card slot cover opened.

05/06/2024: Games sorting By default, games are sorted by the time they were copied to the microSD. This is because we believe most people want their favorite games showing first. But if you want to have the games sorted alphabetically, head to our Q&A section, we explain how. Also on V2, remember that a quick push takes you to the next game, and a long one to the previous game. For easy navigation.

Here's hoping me preordering the dumper combo from one of the slower stores nets me one of the v2s or at least they give the option to solder on your own switch from the looks of it and gain the functionality. That on its own would be good enough for me. I'm in the same camp, I run an unmodded switch (though I kinda want to pick up an easier to mod one too the more I see) so this is literally just a game switcher and run on emulation via dumper device and I'm super glad to see it.

I bought one of these when the V1 was first getting coverage on KZfaq but they were backordered and it still hasn't shipped. I got an email saying I'd be getting a V2 shipping soon. I also ordered the Dumper with it so I can dump my own carts. Love the button on this though. Seems like an improvement. Would love to see some kind of menu like other flash carts support though.

That would be dangerous and easily detectable, this work by spoofing the original cartridge, showing like 10 games is impossible with original cartridge.

so i have to wonder my they didnt just make the button a short ribbon to a button you could mount external to the flash cart port, like on the top of the switch or molding around the screen. the flash cart door does not need to be closed to operate so why not make a more stable button with a lead?

If the games cycle in the order that they were copied to the SD.... you could use 'bulk file changer' to alter the 'date modified' of your games list. A trick I learned for PSP to alphabetize the gamelist

I wonder if a Tesla overlay home menu would be possible on a modded Switch to choose which game you want to load on the Mig Switch? It's not redundant if you have a modded switch because of having more memory. Now people can have almost 3tb of memory on their Switch with two 1.5tb micro sd cards. We might even have 2tb micro sd cards in the future.

I ordered it for game preservation purposes directly from their store as the switch seems to be the last primarily start most games without needing to download files from servers which will eventually go offline. My order is taking a long time because I am waiting for the dumper. V1 one orders are are now upgraded to v2 carts so I am looking forward to that when mine eventually arrives.

It works if you name the folders the game name first like minecraft.xci i named all mine and it cycles alphabetically for me

If you have a full backup, the updates work just like a normal game. They are stored on the console, not on the card.

You can cycle through the games alphabetically if you name the folders with the games names. I think you still have to put .xci on the end of the name is the only requirement

I think there's a limit on the firmware, I doubt they programmed it letting it display 17281819 games when you insert a single cartridge. The limit should be 10 or 20 titles... probably

that doesn't really do anything for the people that have the newer switches that can't because you could just sideload the games if that's the case. i guess maybe for convenience kind of dumb though. but ill give them credit for making it work love to see new ways to break the boundaries companies set against the consumer

This is interesting, but with a triple digit physical Switch game collection, even that button solution would be rough. As you've already discussed, my concern aside from the obvious used market issue, is whether or not Nintendo will decide to have backward compatibility on the next console. That would introduce a significant security hole on day 1, and Nintendo doesn't want that.

It wasn't a problem when the 3DS was backwards compatible with the DS. My R4 card didn't work, at least.
