Don't discount the Domane as it is an *INCREDIBLY* comfortable bike, it's almost as if it had a full suspension and soaks up bumps better, much better than say an aluminum gravel bike with much bigger tires. With the 32mm tires you barely feel anything. Wow it's comfortable. The Madone is very stable. It's good if you're on flats and looking for top speed but it doesn't tell the full story because when you're in a group and doing the "peloton" thing, I find in my Emonda XLR with the Aeolus RSL 37 wheels neck to neck I am trying less hard than my friend with similar Madone in all positions except lead. Once you're in the lead yes the aero helps. Or in more disorganized rides on flats its hard to keep up with my buddy who has a Madone especially downhill. But when we're doing the peloton thing with rotation in a disciplined group I always work less hard than he does. That little bit less weight in the thinner (but less aero) wheels counts more than the aero which stops counting if you have a bunch of other riders cutting the air for you. I went with the Emonda because it was the most responsive. "Aggressive cyclist" is my name, I just like to "feel the power" and the Emonda does it best. Its a delight and more responsive but alone isn't quite as fast. It's almost like the Emonda is a sports car and the Madone is more of a German sedan with a huge powerful motor. The Madone is better at holding energy in one direction but is less maneuverable yet more stable, you take a turn and it keeps the line. The Emonda is better at transferring energy when changing direction either through curves or up/down but it's more twitchy for better or worse. The other downside of the Emonda has to do with its best part: it's VERY stiff. You feel everything. Can still do centuries with it OK and did one yesterday, but if and when I can get a deal on a high end second hand Domane I might consider picking one up especially for solo longer rides where speed and ability to keep up counts less than comfort.

Nice Video showing the differences. I own a 2020 Dommane SL 5 and recently added the Bontrager Pro51 wheelset. WOW!!!! Depending on the route, my average speed increased by over 2.3 mph!! So aero makes the difference. If you're into riding longer distances, go with the Domane. If you want to race, go with Madone or Emonda.

Thanks. I've been riding the same Trek bike for 45 years. Yesterday I snapped the crank arm. First of the original components to break. I ordered a replacement off of eBay, but it might be time for a new bike. Don't really have confidence in the old girl anymore. This video was quite helpful.

I know nothing about bikes, so it's overwhelming to choose an incredible bike around the $1200 price range because there are so many good options. I hear good reviews about Trek and not-so-good ones. Usually, it's about customer service if it's a bad review about Trek. Lately, I’ve been eying the Domane AL 3 Disc because I've seen solid reviews on KZfaq and other places. I’m looking for something that has phenomenal speed, can eat miles, handle light gravel, and has no trouble going uphill quickly-and LOOOOONG distances without feeling dead. Like, 20-25 miles in one go, if need be. Again, thank you for the fantastic video!

perfect timing for comparison. I sort of regret I got rid of the Tarmac Sport for Quick 1. I am back in the market for a roadie and seriously considering Domane SL5 as 105 groupset is all I will need. having two other new bikes for different use but if ISO on Domain [f/b] works out compare to the Roubaix I had with future1.5, I will have to get rid of Quick 1. like to see Talalipop to a rider comparison of Roubaix Future 2.0 with latest ISO [F/B] setup to see which "feels" best. I never got used to the Future 1.5 on a Roubaix and with the recall I switched over the Tarmac just to switch over to Quick 1. so many nice bikes out there it's hard to decide.

I’m enjoying the bike so far kzfaq.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.

I weighed my 52cm emonda sl today with Garmin mount+carbon bottle cages+varia mount+51 aeolus pro+cf seat mast/saddle+carbon handlebar and it weighs 18.2 lbs! Quite the porker 🐖
