I just wanted to share this with you from Ren's community page, which I think is very relevant to your personal experience with this trilogy. So once again, this is from Ren: One of my favorite things about watching reaction channels is how songs become a catalyst for allowing others to share some times deeply personal stories of their own. While the lyrics I write are very personal to me and my own experience, its so cool to watch them open up an environment where people feel liberated enough to publicly talk about things which may have been silently carried or only spoken about to close friends. From stories of addiction, to illness, to interpersonal turmoil, its really nice to see a public space being carved out where people can retrospectively reflect and in turn be supported by their communities. In summary, music is fucking cool

Ren and his boy Sam who films almost all of his videos have talked to Netflix about doing a show in this style. They already got a pilot and five episodes lined up to pitch to them. Ren wants to also have other up and coming artists as well as established artists come one also. That will separate the men from the boys because if you can do it like Ren, live and in one take then you're a real freaking singer, songwriter and actor! And you noticed the bed hahaha on a livestream on Twitch Ren and Sam told the story about that bed. Ren ordered it on Amazon and the day they were filming Sam got to the location early to set up and when he opened the box he realized Ren ordered a child's bed by mistake hahaha. So they had to use crates and sh*t to prop it up so it wasn't on the floor lol Awesome reaction as always you guys!

Here's my understanding of how the origin story of this trilogy came to be & the messages within. 🤩😁🤯 This wasn't originally a trilogy story. Ren read a small article about a 14 yr old boy killing a young prostitute with a knife in an attempted robbery. Knife crime had been skyrocketing in London at this time. Later that same evening the boy had been shot and killed by the police responding to a possible suspect for a girl found murdered in Sussex Gardens in Paddington - one of the capital's most notorious red light districts. It disturbed him, so he set out to write a commentary not just on senseless violence, but on how desensitized we've become to it. The words he ends both Jenny and Screech's Tales with is "It's such a Shame" we say these words all to often and just move on without a second thought. The the lead inspector was quoted saying " So Young, It's such a shame". Violets Tale was written over 2 years later adding another layer of commentary by Ren. He wanted us to consider not only generational violence but to make us look at all angles of society that we turn a blind eye to. Both characters are born out of violence on that cruel night of Violets beating and then both killed with brutal violence in the same night 14yrs later. Also, his lyrics have even more meaning when you read in between the lines. For example he doesn't say what Jenny was doing or why she wanted to escape from this place & life, or why Screech thought she was older saying at Patrick's door "I left this lady lying on the floor". Could that be because the way she's dressed & her heavy makeup? Also why was a 14yr old girl out so late in the dead of night walking alone in a sketchy area, wearing high heeled shoes, walking down a street that "she's walked it a thousand times before"? Everything points to Jenny being an underage prostitute, showing us what Ren writes has reason & is made to make us think. There's no fat on the bone, every word is weighed & has meaning. Interesting how Jenny has the same traits as her mother Violet, quiet, voiceless, and timid. Whereas Screech mirrors his father Stevie (the Prick boyfriend) in every way, Loud, obnoxious, and easily provoked to violence. They didn't know one another and had never met their biological parents. What made these kids so much like their parents? Was it simply Nature, inherited traits due to their genetic make-up OR Nurture, being brought up in the broken governmental system filled with, mistreated & in many cases, abused children, shuffled from one foster home to another ? He organically takes us on this journey, leaving us to think shouldn't we be doing better in this so called "advanced, wealthy, 1st world society. I'm loving your reactions. Cheers 🥂
@NixyRose72
@NixyRose72 9 ай бұрын
There's also the theory that Stevie wasn't the father of the twins. Violet's father was. That's why she got a council flat on welfare (she was pregnant already) at 16 years old. Also explains why Stevie kept calling her a liar and a slut... It's a horrific theory, but it makes sense, and Ren never wastes a line... So a 16-year-old getting a flat by herself on welfare is not a common occurrence, and I'm pretty sure Ren's genius mind weighed every word for value. Generational trauma and horror that is all too common and ignored or overlooked. Ren's bringing it to light so we look and actually see the problems..

I love that you caught that the bed leg didnt touch the ground! I haven't seen another reactor catch that! Backstory: He ordered a bed for the shoot and didnt realize he ordered a child size until it arrived right before filming. With no time to reorder, they set the bed on something to raise it up. It was precarious and if he moved the wrong way it would tip. This was filmed in a friend's apartment complex. The "hospital room" was a bike storage room with the bikes hidden behind the hospital curtain.

8:10 Patrick is missing because he is "Busy" with Screech's girlfriend. 12:54 Ren embodies Violate waking up cold and confused from being unconscious (looking around confused; haunting hymns...) 13:42 Y'all caught the rewind. 15:00 (I see her smiling through the pain/trauma... Glad she and you all are working towards a better life. In my opinion music is healing even when it hurts sometimes. It's clear to me shes very happy with you. This pain is from the past; where is belongs.) 16:09 If you never feel 100% comfortable; don't. Again very clear your man cares a a lot and hates what happened to you. 16:52 Fast forward time to the present when the song started with Violate laying in the bed. In the end Jenny was just like her mother Violate and froze like her in fear. Which in return angered Screech who is just like his father Stevie. 25:38 NO brother... That's not it at all! I love all genres of music and have listened to much music for 30 years. He almost NEVER MISSES. NON STOP BANGERS!

Music and the person; which is extremally rare for me. 99% of the time I disconnect the music with the person because many people on Ren's level are out of touch. It is so funny your girl listed many things Ren can do. I give that description as well... sing, rap, act, direct, beatbox, produce his own beats, and write both musically and written word at Shakespeare levels... I love the chemistry between you guys. This is such a great set of songs to watch people react to. The first time you hear it is such a shock to the system, and most Ren fans love watching others echo their own initial reaction to it. Ren's versatility is wide, and after listening to probably 80% of his content in the last 7 months (I'm trying to savour the remaining 20%), I can honestly say there's not been a bad track so far. Some are not musically to my taste, but there is ALWAYS something within each song that impresses me. His back catalogue is littered with gems. Dominoes is fantastic, Money Game 1 +2 (part 3 to come next month). Love Music parts 1-4 are fabulous. Part 1 is over a decade old, while part 4 was within the last month. They show his progression musically, plus they are fun and upbeat. So many tracks for you guys to discover! I'm sorry about your friend. I'm not a violent person, but if anyone hurt my kids (from my 27 year old down to my 8 year old) I would do time, and no mistake. Child abusers are the scum of the earth.

Interesting that you picked up on the bed, in a interview with Ren and Sam, they said that they ordered the hospital bed online, but when it arrived for the video shoot of Violets tale they had a problem because it was a child's bed. They didn't have time to get another bed, so they lifted it up on trestles, and Ren had to bend his knees to make it look bigger 😂😂 All three videos were live one take videos... in Screeches tale they had to abandon one of the takes because someone shouted 'shut the fuck up' 😂😂

Yes. Ren is not just a mega-talented artist, and skillful story-teller, he's also a powerful social commentator who is not afraid to tackle the hard social issues. He brings us right into the frame, not as audience but to 'stand witness'. He wants us to Care. Not just murmur empty platitudes like; "Oh dear... what a shame", and then click away to the next 20 second news item. Ren is saying; Don't look away, this is happening daily all around us. We KNOW the pathways that lead innocents like Jenny, Screech & Violet toward becoming victims and / or perpetrators. Why aren't we doing more to stop these tragedies, these crimes. Thank you for speaking up with your story / Mandy's story. Honouring their lives and making sure they're not forgotten, painful as it is, it is so important.

I also suggest, Ren and his band singing a mash up of I shot the sheriff, Zion and Hip Hop while busking ( singing live),on the streets of Brighton, South England. Anyway, greetings to you both from South England.✌

Great reactions guys. Please do Ren with Chinchilla, they have two epic songs How To Be Me & Chalk Outlines. Peace and love. P.S. I'm so sorry to hear about that little girl that was your friend. That touched me deeply when you explained your story. I hope the piece of garbage that did it suffered for it. All child abusers and killers need to be exterminated. * Edit Please do the live versions of the above songs!

Wow, the magic between you two is really shining now! The first reaction I saw, I kinda thought "this loud guy is really dominating this nice lady, I hope she's ok", and I've watched you take what's useful from a whole lotta conflicting advice and some pretty brutal criticism and use it in the best possible way: by thinking, talking, learning, growing, improving. And now it feels like you're coming across as you really are: an awesome, quirky pair of lovely human beings. It's really inspiring! I am genuinely delighted to see how damn good you're both getting at this reaction caper!

R, anyone thinks you’re “too aggressive” 😂….. I am from Texas/Georgia and you make me SO HAPPY with it because it’s like hanging out with all my family and friends from NY. People don’t understand, NY is just different. So for me I feel like I’m with family, so I’m here for it! ❤ love watching you two, idk why YT take your vids off my page and notifications 🤷🏼‍♀️. I’m glad I searched you back out after a month of not seeing you, I couldn’t believe they took my notifications off……problem solved. Your passion is mistaken for aggression 🙄 (that’s not on you) …..and I’m all here for that accent and passion…..FAM😉

Ren is talking about generational abuse and how institutional poverty creates and maintains mental health problems, desperation and fosters continuing abuse. As you already stated; Ren has self identified his music as "Bardcore" and this was a three act Shakespearian Tragedy. The format is that of a bard telling a tale. A form of performance in music, acting and story telling that was the role of the wondering minstrel or bard; going right back through the great Bard Shakespeare himself where at the intro to each act there would be music. It goes all the way back through Greek Theatre performances of Homer's Iliad and the Odyssey and the Greek Chorus from which we get that part of the song and the synchronised dancing chorus line in the musical, the Indian Mahabharata and through to the Sumerians' Epic of Gilgamesh; and probably long before this, to some stone age man twanging on his bow to woo the Chief's daughter or to protest the Chief stealing the meat from his hunt as taxes...
