Love this collaboration! "Vincent" is such a great song by Don McLean! He originally did it in 1972. What a great remake with Home Free! Rob's voice is perfect for this song. Such a beautiful tribute to the sad life of the painter Vincent Van Gogh. He suffered from depression & committed suicide. He never saw any success during his life. But now his paintings are worth millions of dollars.

Truly phenomenal!🥰 What a voice Don McLean still has! And of course Austin also sang great, but Rob's voice is just perfect for this song. His voice so warm, soft as silk and full of emotion. The quiet, not overwhelming background vocals and guitar playing complete it for me. It's the same song as my youth, but with the Home Free twist it's something different. A beautiful song where I, of course, as a Dutch person, know the history of Vincent van Gogh well. I lived not far from his birthplace a while. If I could, I would have given Don McLean and Home Free a bouquet of sunflowers in memory of Vincent. The sunflower one of his most famous paintings 🌻...... 💖 💖💖💖💖💖

One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Such poignant lyrics set to such an exquisite melody. The intricate guitar and rich voice of Don McLean combine with the song to form an incredible musical experience, which is only enhanced by Home Free's amazing collaboration. This song always brings me to tears, and this version does the same as the original. Don's voice is as beautiful and expressive as it was in the 1970s, and this is just magnificent. Not to ignore or dismiss this gorgeous collab....but seeing your t-shirt, you absolutely have to watch the "home away from home, Adam Rupp's home edition". ❤❤

Loved the way Austin & Rob blend so well with Don on the several trio parts in the song.

There are a number of places where in the melody line, Rob has the lead and Don is singing harmony along with him. There is already respect shown in asking them to sing along, but to take a supporting line as our guys sing lead is a remarkable gesture.

Don McLean doesn't write lyrics, he puts poetry to music. Home Free have proven to be perfect collaborators with other artists. They always highlight that person and remain true to the concept of the music. Their harmonies & singing are incomparable. BTW, I so want a copy of the picture in which they're literally absorbed.

It was all six of them singing. Austin and Rob were highlighted with Don, but it was an effort of love from all of them.

It was a stroke of genius to use just the guitar without additional percussion. It is interesting to watch the shifting paintings in the background. Rob rises to the occasion. Great reaction.

McLean will be 79 in October; yes, he's still in amazing voice. I've been looking forward to your reaction. Tim Foust commented somewhere that he thought "Vincent" was one of the best lyrics ever written. And of course, the beautiful diction that makes every word draw you in.

It is very strange to me to think that this wonderful song, that I have listened to hundreds of times in its original iteration, can sound so similar and yet so different and still be so stunningly beautiful. Don is 78 yrs old and this song came out in 1971

Don was truly a poet with his lyrics. He wrote it in 1970 at the time he was singing in classrooms with his guitar, He was reading a biography about Vincent and realized that Vincent was misunderstood and was not crazy but had an illness and he wanted others to know that so wrote the original lyrics on a paper bag and that paper bag with lyrics sold in 2020 for 1.5 million dollars.

This is so gorgeous. I have always liked it. Like it even more now. It's sort of amazing that Don invited Home Free to back him on the re-release of his two most iconic songs. Tim was quoted on the website Everything Nash as saying that this may be the most perfect song ever written, both musically and lyrically. They also backed him on the title track to his new album, American Boys. There is an audio-only video on Don's channel. It's a bop.

Loved your reaction! I was a kid when Don released this in the early 70s, and like you, I heard it but had never really HEARD it. Now having been through many losses, conflicts and my own battle with depression, the beautiful lyrics of this song and the way it was presented by Home Free and Don have given me a small glimpse into what Van Gogh may have been going through. Although I'm afraid I still don't understand his paintings, I admire what Van Gogh was able to do with the thoughts and feelings which overwhelmed him. And Home Free - these boys have yet to get one wrong, adding gorgeous vocals and backing to this touching song. Wishing these 5 could go on forever.....

This song was on the American Pie album, released in the early 70's. I bought it when I was a teenager and every song on it is a gem. This was my favorite. But here is one of the rare instances where the remake is better than the original. By the way, Don is 78 years old. I saw him in concert a couple of years ago and he was incredible.

That is one of my all time favourite Doctor Who episodes! Doesn’t matter how many times I’ve watched it, I ugly cry every single time and this song does pretty much the same thing. Rick Astley did a really beautiful rendition too.

The story goes (and I don't know if this story is true, but it sounds good) that Don McLean wrote this after he read a biography of Vincent Van Gogh. I think it would be difficult to understand and appreciate the lyrics of this song without knowing something about Van Gogh's life. Home Free (and Don McLean) knocked this one out of the park, as usual. And as talented as Adam Rupp is, I'm glad he was singing in this one instead of beat boxing. The beat boxing would have detracted from the beauty of the melody and the story told by the lyrics--just my opinion.

LOVE this song. Don McLean is a masterful storyteller, and Home Free are wonderful vocalists that blend perfectly together and with Don. I also love the Doctor Who episode that features Van Gogh. It is my absolute favorite episode ever! Beautiful!

Home Free has been a group I respected for their vocal talent and have wanted to like. But my indifference to country music has always made me pass over them if I had the choice.
