Joe's a great guy. I saw him with 🌈 and I was very happy. I also saw 🌈 with Dio and Gram. They were all different bands. All quality musicians. Finally, I got to see Rainbow 🌈 on mtv all the time with Joe. Otherwise, in America, no one would know who Rainbow was except hard-core fans like me.

Yeah - Joe is like an ordinary Joe. My wife and I met him after a show about 10 years ago. Very friendly and down to earth. All around nice guy - not a stuck up musician.

Joe is a seriously great singer who unfortunately was saddled with the 'replacement' tag. 'Bent Out of Shape' is a shining, defining moment! Loved his performance on Odyssey/Yngwie's Rising Force. Always thought he had fantastic, real hair - those wigs were great and looked natural on him.

Slaves and masters .. had a prequel .. Rainbow’s fantastic “Bent out of shape” Great voice/singer/ +ve energy live. Tells the truth about Ritchie “He’s not difficult he’s a perfectionist. Street of dreams and Stone Cold are two of my favourite/most played songs .. Ritchie has to match Joe on each .. he said that in an interview .. Joe isn’t boasting and they are two of Ritchie’s best and most melodic/emotive studio solos

I would like to hear an entire Michael Schenker record together with Joe Lynn Turner. They did a few songs recently but it's basically Michael Schenker at the helmet. I would like to hear an album where Joe Lynn Turner has as much to say about everything. Then what happens - Happens.

As Ritchie said “I’ve got a good track record with picking great singers” Joe is a great rock singer .. he made albums with 2 of the greatest ever rock bands Rainbow 🌈 and Purple 🟣. It’s just .. with respect .. that some disagree with the best in the business .. that’s ok 👌 Saw Joe do a gig with just an acoustic guitar and his voice in a bar in Edinburgh. He sounded so good and was really funny and relatable. Also saw him with Purple and Rainbow.. fantastic.

Don Lawrence… made me cry during every lesson. What a giant tool! Made you stand in a corner & screamed “ SING OUT FROM THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD!!!!!” …I still have no clue what the heck he was yelling. Lessons were in Carnegie Hall, $$$$. Learned absolutely nothing from him. If anything, it detracted from my God given natural ability & sent me straight to therapy.

The bald look suits him really well. I always thought his hair made him look like an actor in a B grade soapy series. Hair no longer matters in rock music.

The thing about Joe, is that he tried to come across as an equal to the guys in Purple and in fact, they were lucky to have him etc. etc. He couldn't grasp the fact that the fans found that absolutely ridiculous. Then there was his ''did you spill my pint?'' look in photos.

Or maybe fans can't accept that Slaves and Masters is a great album, JLT is a great singer and performers have egos. It's why they do what they do. Plus, why would you go into any situation and not compete? And maybe listen to the whole piece, nothing wrong with any of it.

@@Dibbdroid S&M is a very good album, but JLT could not cut the classic Purple stuff live. He actually wanted to go in the same direction as Motley Crue! Never heard Ian Gillan bloviating in the same cringeworthy, self-promoting manner as Joe, but then he didn't need to.
@Dibbdroid
@Dibbdroid 4 ай бұрын
@@grobbler1 he did a great job on the S&M tour until the latter part, probably much better than Gillan during his maximum hedonism years. I've seen Deep Purple on every tour since they reformed and Gillan ranged from mind-blowing to awful. One gig in 87 he spent 75% of the time off stage gargling. No one is perfect. JLT has spouted a lot of crap but rarely slips
@grobbler1
@grobbler1 4 ай бұрын
@@Dibbdroid I saw him in the UK in 1991 and he was OK on the S&M stuff, but had the wrong type of voice for the rest of the set. He did struggle and forced a 'gravelly' type voice for the classic Purple stuff, which is not normal for his type of singing. He was good during his Rainbow studio period as the material suited his voice, but as time has shown, no one can replicate Gillan's songs like Gillan can, whether he's 'on' or has an 'off' night. I've saw Gillan live since 1981 and never yet saw a bad performance, although I've heard old bootlegs where he is rather hoarse.
@Dibbdroid
@Dibbdroid 4 ай бұрын
@@grobbler1 he did a great job. Gillan is unique so JLT would have to go his own way, same as he did with Dio, Bonnet, Jeff Scott Soto, Boals material. He did a great job there too. 81 was a bit naff on stage but by 84 he was on it
