In the first part of Tales Of Monkey Island, Episode 4 ("The Trial And Execution Of Guybrush Threepwood"), fearless pirate hunter Morgan LeFlay delivers a betrayed, captured, and humiliated Guybrush into the hands of Marquis De Singe, only to have him taken away at the last minute by an angry mob, threatening to convict and execute our hero for several heinous crimes he has allegedly committed while searching for the Big Sponge. While the trial itself is a predictable sham, restrictions are lax enough to have Guybrush appoint himself as his own defense, then profit from his "double identity" by setting himself free within the confines of Flotsam Town, where he now has a difficult task to find enough evidence to overturn the ridiculous testimonies of his pirate accusers.
