I heard to be interesting, talk about something they are interested in or talk about something they don't know about with enthusiasm and excitement.

If its a woman, you really don't need to focus on being that witty, but more being attentive and making them feel heard. You might find it easier to keep asking them questions about a topic you sense that they enjoy doing or talking about.

Good points here. One thing that also makes conversation difficult is "interest" by the people in the conversation. If one person is less interested in having the conversation, it's not going to go well. If your taking to someone that isn't really "into" taking to you, you are going to get a lot of one word answers and no questions back. If it turns into a straight up bad job interview kind of conversation, then the other person losses interest also. Maybe a video on how to spark "interest" amongst the 2 people would be helpful.

All people are different, some will just give a cold off answer, not because they don’t care but because they’re like that. Nothing wrong with silence. Had to drive and just asked a couple of questions. Have some friends that just talk a lot and make my life easier since I can listen for hours

That makes so much sense, I often find it talking one on one, yet when I'm with friends, we stop and look at where a conversation started and where it ended up and you can see the spread from the jump off points.

My philosophy is the opposite: don't talk unless you have something to say. I am fine with silence. Also, a very important skill to learn is listening skill. In order to be a good listener, last thing you want to do, is think of what you are going to say next while the other person is taking. Instead, try and understand what someone is trying to communicate and why. If someone tells you that Seattle is too crowded because of tech workers, why are they saying that? Maybe, for example, they are under a lot of stress, they ran into heavy traffic on their commute, and they blame it on overcrowding. Or maybe they can't afford the rent. As a listener, you are trying to get to this underlying reason of why someone is telling you something. And people really appreciate good listeners. Everybody wants an audience. Finally, when you listen, you receive information, and when you talk you give away information. Think about that for a second.

Tim Romley yeah so basically the tips in the video here are just guidelines and something you can use for practicing. But after that keep it in your back pocket and when you're already talking to someone, just listen and let your gut/emotions do the responding, the talking. Conversations are just vibing. Contributing to the vibe and expressing you're good vibration. And this naturally happens when you let your gut (our 2nd brain) do the talking. Now if you find yourself in a scenario where the other person said something that you cannot relate to that much, you don't have anything to say about it, that's the time you follow this tips. But actually unconsciously when you let your gut do the talking, you're actually doing all these tips here in the video. So the shortcut is really just to listen 👂 and then take any avenue where you would like to direct the conversation to. You're welcome 😊

This is great information. But, some people also don’t want to keep coming up with things to say. Some people want people to be the wheel to the spokes in a conversation. I have a CEO that guides the table through a variety of topics. Your comment is still very helpful.

I take what's mentioned in the video as a tool for people like me who are introverts and don't quite easily carry on a conversation. A tool for practicing elongating a conversation and then when that is mastered, being able to deliberately balance between listening and talking.

I spend 99% of the time listening to other people do all of the talking and I want to actually learn how to dominate a conversation and for a change, subject people to my incessant chatter for once. Being an introvert has its disadvantages.

Two options: 1. If you suddenly feel like an interviewee: Give your answer and add a "what about you?" That way you get the control back and get new jump off points from the upcoming answer. 2. If you suddenly feel like an interviewer: Wait for them to finish their answer and then add a statement of your own like you were asked a "what about you?" If they don't pick up your answer, ask another question jumping off your statement Should give you two ways to balance out conversations if they get too one-sided while staying in control.

If you feel like you're interviewing someone, then use questions only rarely. Use statements more often in response Example : You ask : "what did u do, this summer." They say : "(their favourite thing to do)" You say "Well I can't help it but I just kept playing games at home" maybe you'll find someone who relates (and you can say in a playful tone "Oh, you're the same as me??" And high five them or whatever and then ask them what game they play) (If no one related) Then you can make a cold read about the thing they did in summer like "I bet it was fun" And so on and so forth

Idk what i was expecting but these are for like totally socially challenged people or maybe someone with autism/aspergers. Otherwise they just sound goofy and simple. Qhat it does do for me though is to remember that there are people out there that may struggle really hard to find acceptance and are very critical of themselves, and so if I find myself in a situation where I get a vibe of this sort from a person, I find a way to disarm the person, giving them the possibility to speak without feeling judged. Hopefully we can all do this, as we never know how someone else may feel, or how we may be able to help them grow and/or feel more comfortable as themselves.
