This interview is so encouraging! I'm a Malaysian, and I self-leaned Thai language for around 1-2 years, and this interview really gives me lots of confidence to continue to learn Thai language and become as awesome as khun Ruedi 😍

Mr ruedi’s channel in YT was the first channel where i learned thai. The lessons are so structured. I watched all the videos and learned a lot, especially reading Thai with the correct tone. 😍

Love that concept around 14:40 - better to learn 10 minutes a day and be consistent. I teach this same concept to my guitar students. I enjoyed listening to this!

So encouraging to hear Kru Ruedi’s story. Especially we cannot practice this language in a foreign country and rely on books and videos to guide us. Plus the questions that I always don’t have the answers to and things does not make sense to me. Indeed its hard, but I will press on!

Very interesting, I started with Kru Smuk and I like her approach, but I might add Ruedi now. I guess it might give you a new perspective on the Thai language if you learn it directly from your mother tongue and not via another foreign language.

I love this kind of video where a foreigner can speak Thai very well in a short space of time, yet i also find them very discouraging as it always highlights my inadequacies in my Thai learning journey. I’m currently in Thailand, living in a small Isan town where nobody speaks a word of English. Each day i speak with the locals but always struggle with their replies - slang or speed or Isan? Who knows. Yet I’m always hearing ‘speak Thai very good’ within a thumbs up - yet i watch a video like this and i think - now this is where i want to be in terms of my Thai ability. I have discovered comprehensible Thai and am clocking up the hours so i can only hope something clicks and my Thai listening kicks in. It’s a frustrating game sometimes.

I feel you. I used to get down and frustrated. Once I mastered letting go that feeling go, I have improved so much. I had to make myself understand that the end result doesn’t matter, enjoy the practice day to day and forget about the destination

Nice interview! Rudi Thai is good, but I would say his isn't good enough to teach past beginners level of the Thai language. The reason I say that is because he seemed be struggling to come up with the correct sentence pattern sometimes or the correct words. Though this could because he was nervous while being interviewed. Thanks for posting the interview one of the better ones with foreigners being interviewed in Thai.

Why are the Thai children’s books harder for foreigners to read than a more complex book?? I didn’t quite understand that part
