"If you can possibly manage the time, please play both sides at one meeting."
I recorded a few covers today and cracked myself up on this one. I thought I'd post it in hopes it will brighten my spirits as I'm dreading work tomorrow.
It's "Talk To Ya Later" by, one of my favorite bands, The Tubes. It's off of their "The Completion Backward Principal" album which came out in 1981. This song was cowritten by The Tubes, David Foster, and Steve Lukather. David Foster produced the album and Steve Lukather played some guitar on the recording.
I've always cited Rick Anderson (another pick player) as an influence but I'm really not certain how much bass he actually played on this album or "Outside Inside". I've heard that Nathan East may have played on both of those recordings. In any case, it's Rick who plays the parts live.
On a personal note, when my band, Crisis, was recording our first collection of material, Eric (who engineered the recordings) asked me to bring in an example of how I wanted my bass to sit in the mix and this is the album I brought him.
I'm playing the (Kramer-era) Spector NS2A.
