rachel made a really good point about expecting culture or language challenges so that you don't jump to conclusions and such. i thought that was such a good reminder for me. i'm learning korean and japanese and sometimes i have to remind myself we are both novices in each other lanugages so don't take everything at face value and dig a little deeper.

This is such an important skill and once I acknowledged it with international friends, applying it to friends from my own culture has made our friendships deeper because I don't immediately assume I understand their meaning....and it diffuses SO many misunderstandings by listening and asking questions before judging. Definitely one of THE most helpful skills in life!

I'm from a international family (my father is from the Dominican Republic, my mother is from America) so I'm familiar with the issues and cultural differences that mix can create, but it's interesting seeing what other mixes can create! Interracial/international families is something that fascinates me and I love hearing about them, probably because it's something I can easily identify with given my upbringing. Interesting video!

I’ve seen so many videos about interracial relationship, but yours is by far the most interesting. You went from basic topics to more deep ones regarding not only the culture but their private lives and I do appreciate that deeply. It’s hard to understand sometimes how Japanese get our behaviour and it was so clarifying.

He’s so modern/progressive. Often hearing from my parents (who are Japanese) a lot of Japanese people (especially guys) are very ‘stubborn’ so it is so nice to see that stereotype be proven wrong especially since most of the adult males in my family act very traditional (strict/stubborn, etc.) and believe in the traditional ways (guys work while women stay at home). I also think Jun and Rachel are great examples of being in a healthy, open minded and caring relationship. ❤️
