Many thanks about your lesson, Oli. This's my practice: My family has 6 members: my grandparents, my parents, my aunt and me. I don't see my family often because I live in a different city for study, but I speak to them regularly by phone. We all get together once a month, exactly when I have much freetime like weekend or holiday, which is always very noisy but lots of fun.

There are five people in my immediate family. I have two older brothers, one is a doctor and one is an architect, my parents and me. I'm the youngest in my immediate family and also in my extended family, this thing is special. My extended family is quite large so I have a lot of relatives. I'm living far from home. I sometimes feel home sick. I usually make a video call to them every weekend and visit my house about twice a years, one's on Tet holiday and another one's on summer. I love my family, we have lots of great time together. And thanks Oxford Online English.

I have a lot of cousin, but they live in Quang Nam province where is so far from my house, so we don't see together often. My mom is a household women who always take care of every member in the family. Also, my Dad quite love playing chess with his friends, besides he often goes jogging around the park near my house in his freetime. And two older sister haven't still married. Sometimes, my family go hang out or watch TV together. Particularly in the Christmas this year, my family went to Vung Tau beach which we enjoy all of the time. Hello, your lesson is very useful. This is my work I come from a small family with four members. There are my parents, my brother who is one year younger than me and myself. Both us are the student in secondary school. I'm in seventh grade and he's in sixth grade. My mother is a businesswoman. She is very good at languages. Although she is busy, she always has time to do housework and help us with our schoolwork. My dad is an engineer. He travels pretty often with his job in abroad. When he returns from work, he tries to as much time as possible with us. Sometimes we watch films or have a picnic in the countryside. All of them are a memorable experience. We are concord with each other. I love my family so much.

I have a younger sister who will graduate from high school next year. We look quite different because she looks like my mother and I look like my father. My family is very close. 2018 was the first of many for me. I married the love of my life and gave birth to a beautiful son. My very own family. Currently, we live with my husband’s grandmother and great grandmother. They are the only family we get to see everyday. Although I miss my family back home so much, I don’t have the chance to see them more often. Mostly because of time and financial constraints. Back in the day, we do a lot of things together as a family. Like going to church on Sunday mornings and, as much as possible, we eat breakfast together. That’s our own kind of bonding.

My immediate family is quite small with three people, my husband, my daughter and myself. We are living in Ha Noi while my parents and my parents in law live in other cities, so we do not see them very often, just one or twice a year in special occasions like on New Year holidays. However, we call them very often, every month to see if they are okay and whenever we need their help, they are willing to come with us. About my family, my husband owns his company so he is quite busy with his work and goes on business very often. I usually stay alone with my daughter who is still in primary school. She is very cute and adorable. We are very close just like friends. We share a lot of things. I enjoy my family.

Hello! Thank you very much for your lesson Oli. I'd wish to do it with you. This is my practice, it might be interesting: There are four people in my intermediate family: My parents, my sister and myself. I'm very close to my family. I don't have kids yet but I like to have a huge family one day. I live with my family and my mother cooks yummy food everyday. I have lots of cousins. We always eat together and I usually help my mother to cook Maldivian traditional foods. By the way, I play with my younger sister who likes to play all day! She always likes to lie down next to me on my parents bed or even on the playing mat. My sister also likes to listen carefully to the story's I tell her. She really likes to play with me a lot. We all go to the park if the weather is nice. I love my family very much. Thank you! Maakin 7yrs

I have 6 people in my immediate family: I have 2 sisters (one 5 years older than me and one 7 years younger than me), a brother, my parents and me of course. I’m very close to them and I try to have a talk with them every day. my brothers and I have not been married yet except for my eldest sister who has been married for 5 years. She has 2 kids and is not capable of looking after them herself, so she usually stays at our home so that my mother helps her caring for them. Regrading my extended family, I have 6 uncles and 6 aunts. I do not see them often because they live in other cities. I also have 23 cousins, and some of them are kind of like my brothers and sisters. I try to keep in touch with my aunts, uncles and cousins very so often by talking to them using video calls. I really miss those dayes when We used to go on holidays with each others once a year.

Hello, this lesson is totally perfect 👌 My simple answer is: There are four people in my immediate family with my husband and kids. However, I raised in a big family including my grandparents besides my parents and sister that is a good luck to make me who I am in a better way. I have two children, a girl graduating from primary school by the next term and a boy, 3 years old younger than my daughter, has just started primary school. Moreover, I have just one sister, five years old younger than me, whose name is Alya living in Bursa as me so we see each other quite often. For instance, we constantly prepare meals from our favorite recipes which fill our stomach and warm our heart with happy memories, while filling the home with a pleasant smell on sundays. Although my parents live in Kayseri, where’s far away from Bursa, they visit us once a month. Like most Turkish grandparents I know, they do not want to miss any crucial moments of their grandchildren that’s why I like my whole family a lot.

My sister is 21 and she is still studying Chinese to become interpreter in the future. My brother is just 8. He is in elementary school. I do not see my family often because I live in a different city but I still speak to them regularly. We all get together at least two times a year, which is always noisy but lots of fun.

He is very skillful, Household items are mostly made by him. He is the breadwinner but he is not patriarchal, he always listening and understanding to long happiness. My mother is two years younger than my father. She is the chef No.1 of my family, she always makes tasty and nutritious food. In her free time, she often makes clothes - sewing is her hobby. My parents are our example of behavior, affection and also attitude with life and people. Our three sisters were born quite near to each other, each other separated by 3 years, so we are not just sibling, but we also play close together. My sister was married and has two children, now she is a housewife. She and I have a common hobby that is food. We love cooking, take pictures of food and enjoy specialties in every place we go to. My brother is our little brother, even though he is twenty-two years old, I still see him as my baby brother. He has black hair and tall people like our father. He also is funny people and always has many stories that make my family laugh. Now, my parents live in the country but I live with my sister in the city for work. Therefore, I don't see my family often and we seldom enjoy the meal together. I just want to have some vacation time to come home. Although we talk on the telephone every day, I miss my parents so much. I wish I could spend much time taking care of my parents and we could have a lot of trips together in the future. Additionally, I have a lot of nephews and nieces whom I am crazy about. I consider them to be like my own children. We all live near each other, and every weekend we have dinner together. These moments are really noisy but also fun! I deeply love spending time with each other.

Hello Oli, First of all, thank you for your videos! They're helping me a lot. But I've noticed that don't have any videos about Prepositions... So, if you could make a video talking about them, it would help a lot !!! Such a hard subject for me and I think for another people too. Hehe
@Oxfordonlineenglish1
@Oxfordonlineenglish1 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Janubio! It's a good idea, although prepositions are hard to teach. There's often not much logic to which preposition we use, so learning to use prepositions is more about memorising a lot of information, which is not so interesting in a lesson. I'll give it some thought though and see if there's anything I can do which would be useful. In the meantime, we do have a couple of videos on 'at', 'on' and 'in': kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hq56lLJqqsW1mJ8.html (using at/on/in for place) and kzfaq.info/get/bejne/np-YodKHvtidhX0.html (using at/on/in for time).

Nice answer! Here are three corrections for you: 1. Leave a space after punctuation (= after commas, full stops, etc.) Don't put a space before full stops, commas, or most punctuation marks. 2. It's not clear what you mean by 'play game'. Play video games? 3. Don't use 'although' and 'but' in the same sentence. Choose one or the other. Thanks for sharing!

There are four people in my immediate family:my parents, my little sister and me of course. I'm the oldest child in my family bcauz my sister is over 15 years younger than me.What a big gap! I have lived with my parents since I was born so I'm very close to them. We always have our meals together everyday. My mum always cooks something special for us and we really enjoy all her dishes. She's the best cook for me. I am university student but all colleges and universities have been closed for over 2years in my country. But I can do self-study by the help of internet access. My sister has just started kindergarten. She's so lovely and I love her a lot. That's my practice and thank you for useful tips Oli

Thanks for sharing a great response, Leon. Here are a few suggestions for you: 1) '...family because my sister...' not, 'bcauz.' 2) '...meals together every day,' not, 'everyday.' 3) 'I am a university student...' not, 'I am university student...' Hope this helps you!

Hello! Thanks for your lesson. This is my practice: There are seven people in my immediate family, my parents, one sister, three brothers and me. I close with my family and i have lots of relatives. I doesn't see my family often because my brothers and me live in another city due to studies. But we speak them regularly and we all get together once or twice in a year which is noise and lots of fun. I love my family.

Thank you very much for your lesson. This is my practice: There are 5 people in my family. I have a sister and a brother, my parents and I of course. I am the youngest in my family. My sister is an architect and my brother is a software engineer. My brother is married and he has 2 children. I have a lot of other relatives, but they live in Konya so we don't see them often. I am very closed to my family. We have lunch together every day. I see my brother once a week; we meet and I play games with his children. I really love my family.

The member in my family is always spend time for family. But, my mother and i living a different city now and we can't go back home regulaly. Although, we not near each other, all of everyone in my family are all love together and always ready when someone needs help. I feel lucky as i was born in this family and i will try to study, to work and spend time for family. Hopefully, my family is happy forever. I really love it.
