This is a video by request!! I listen to you guys. I read all the comments, and here’s a video of me walking from my apartment on Svalbard to the bar. It’s one of the most popular bars In Longyearbyen, Karlsberger Pub, known by locals as “KB”. Along the way we run into some awesome locals! It’s a small village so everyone basically knows everyone. Even if you don’t personally know everyone, you definitely see everyone in a daily basis. Svalbard locals are awesome and we are just regular people. We don’t live in igloos or ice cave. We don’t see polar bears every minute of the day, and don’t carry guns all the time… Just sometimes. 😉

There’s an outdoor ice hockey with free skates, pucks, and sticks. There’s also a gym. No basketball though.

There are no banks on Svalbard. Only the grocery store accepts cash, but they accept all major currencies such as US Dollars, Pounds, and Euro. They will give you change in Norwegian Kroner though.

When you get a job in Svalbard, what happens to the tourist visa? Do they give you permanent residence?

As soon as you get to Svalbard you no longer need a visa so nothing happens. It’s just like being in your home country. You can be there as long as you like and work and yeah.

@@RobdoesitallWhen I arrive in Svalbard and sit for a long time, if I want to go to Norway, for example, to buy some things, in which case I will not be able to because the Schengen visa will expire, I am from Egypt and enter Europe with a visa, or is there a special treatment for workers in Svalbard

@@medoelzahaby5185 ummm I’m American so I’m unsure about Egyptian visa affairs. I would think that if you come to Svalbard with a Schengen visa and it expires while you are up there you would have to apply for another one. Or maybe actually as soon as you go to Svalbard your Schengen visa freezes. Because you get a stamp for Svalbard because you leave the Schengen zone.

I don’t know. I’m American and came from America. You will have to look up the specific things you need to do coming from Africa. Hope they helps! 🤞🏾🤞🏾
