Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy. When they started in 2010 BABYMETAL were 3 girls. They are Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal who you saw here), she was was 12, Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal) and Moa Kikuchi (Moametal) who were both aged 11. Late in 2012 the Kami Band (the guitarists and drummer) started to support them playing the encores in some shows and they also played at a couple of festivals. Early in 2014 (at these shows at the Budokan in fact) they became the full time support for BABYMETAL in all their live shows. They are some of Japan's very best musicians. Kami means god or spirit, so they are the gods of guitar, bass and drums summoned from the dead to support BABYMETAL - which is why they were wearing traditional white burial robes and corpse face paint. Since the start of 2019 they wear black robes and masks. This song is one of Su-metal's solo songs. Normally all 3 girls would be on stage. Su-metal is lead vocalist, Yuimetal and Moametal provide backing vocals and harmonies and they lead the choreography which in turn involves the whole audience, so one of their main roles is to get the crowd dancing, jumping, singing and shouting along. At the end of 2017 Yuimetal was taken ill (we don't know what was wrong) and she missed the 2018 tour. In October 2018 she announced she was still not fully recovered and would be leaving the band. Su-metal and Moametal chose to continue as a duo. Since the start of the 2019 tour they have been supported by three girls (Riho, Kano and Momoko) who are known as the Avengers and take turns to dance in the third spot. Su-metal is 23 now, Moametal is nearly 22. 'Akatsuki' is inspired by and pays tribute to X Japan's song 'Kurenai' which you reacted to two or three weeks ago. Great reaction! It's easy to forget that Su was only SIXTEEN years old and is a tiny 155cm (5ft-1inch) singing goddess in this video! And they are at the prestigious Budokan arena in Japan. The Beatles, Ozzy Osbourne, Cheap Trick, and Bob Dylan have performed there too. This is one of my most favorite BABYMETAL songs and performances because it is the most badass yet touching songs I have ever heard: "Going over thousands of nights, some love shall survive. This was recorded March 1, 2014 for Babymetal Live at Budokan (a Tokyo concert venue) and was one of the first major concerts given by Babymetal. The vocalist is the lead singer Suzuka Nakimoto, and was 16 years old on this date. Nakamoto-San is extremely talented and has been performing since a very young age. Her vocals are very strong and her stage presence is a thing of legend. You will grow to love these women and their extraordinary band!

BABYMETAL formed in 2010 form by a company amuse their producer Koba metal wanted to experiment by putting 3 Japanese idol girls backed with a metal band. At that time the 3 girls Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal) who was singing in this video was just 12 and Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal) and Moa Kikuchi (Moametal) were both 11. Koba created the genre kawaii metal (cute metal) also BABYMETAL actually mean the birth of a new type of metal not their ages. BABYMETAL are the 3 girls the backing band is called the kami (god) band and they only play on live performances and do not play on the studio tracks. Their is another band that played who performed wearing skeleton outfits they were called BABYBONES but they were not a real band as they mimed playing instruments as at that time they couldn’t afford a real band. Impressive performance even more so as Su is only 16 and around 5.1 tall . This is a Su solo there are 2 other members Yui and Moa who are 15 years old and barely 5.0 foot tall . They have been performing since they where 10 tears old , Su even longer . This was from the 2nd night of a 2 shows at the Budokan a prestigious venue in Japan where you have to be invited to perform there . They where the youngest act to perform there . Nice reaction, "wow" is what many people say when they first see Babymetal because the name doesn't really fit with the skill and maturity of the performances. Welcome to the foxhole. Now check out "Headbanger, Live at Legend 1997". Black Night was the second night of the Budokan concerts in March 2014, so the singer, Su-metal was 16. This is a Su solo and Babymetal are made up of her and two other girls called Yuimetal and Moametal who are resting during this song. The band are dressed as shinto spirits of the dead and are called The Kami Band and they are very talented. Here Akatsuki is translated as "Crimson Moon". It's a hymn to undying love (or at least keeping it's memory alive) and uses the symbolism of the "red thread" to connect lovers; there's lots of red imagery in the lyrics of this song, but I'm not sure that the "Miss Havisham" never ending love aspect of the message is one to be emulated. There is also a Japanese anime called "Akatsuki" where the protagonists wear capes and I think that Su's cape might be a nod to that, or it might just be a dramatic prop. Anyway you got to experience Su's stage presence and the skill of the Kami Band which are both off the charts.

They are supported by a rotating selection of talented male backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost. Past Formations. Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012) From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka "Yuimetal" pronounced Yui-Metal. (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them. Music Video of this Era Doki Doki Morning Iine (Pronounced EE-NAH spelled i i n e) Headbangya Babymetal/ Metal Resistance Era (2012-2017) Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers, some time travel, running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show I was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own. Babymetal as it is most commonly known as with Su-Metal, Moametal, Yuimetal, the Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of it’s existence. Also established beyond the 3 member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui. Music Videos of this Era Gimmie Chocolate Megitsune Rondo of Nightmare - With mischief of the Gods Intro (Su Solo and a great expedition of the Kami Band) Road of Resistance Live in Japan (Co-written by Dragonforce) Iijime, Dame, Zettai Live at Sonisphere (Name means No More Bullying Forever) Karate The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era (2018) In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost leaving behind his wife and only child. In September 2018 Yui would formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand) In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history. Music Videos of this Era (These MVs do not feature the members in them at all) Distortion Starlight (Don’t let overzealous fans fool you, this is OFFICIALLY not a tribute to anyone. A lot of fan speculation, end of story) Metal Galaxy Era (2019- Feb 2020) The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3-member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH. Music Videos of this Era Pa Pa Ya Elevator Girl Shanti Shanti Da Da Dance (Avenger confusion) Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihara, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before. Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert in 2020 was well worth it. COVID Era (Mar 2020 to current time) COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans is what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has move on to other projects, including starting a fan club, which appears to rule her out of ever being an Avenger again. Kano Fujihara has graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4 month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaves Momoko Okazaki as last standing Avenger with no new commitments. However, Kano was technically in Sakura Gakuin, @onefive, and Babymetal all at the same time for almost a year so it is possible she will still be an Avenger. All shows since COVID pandemic they have done in 2020 and in 2021 have had Momoko as the Avenger. Your the second reactor I’ve seen who’s 1st foray into babymetal is akatsuki. Great song, 1 of my favourites actually. This is one of 4 songs where Sumetal performs by herself, most of the time it’s 3 girls: Sumetal, Moametal and (until 2018) Yuimetal. Moa and yui also perform some songs without Su (personal recommendation is sis anger.) fun fact while this song was performed, yui and moa were backstage doing their homework. For that, they created (especially their producer KOBA-METAL), a new genre in the METAL music, the KAWAII METAL (cute METAL), which is more accessible for the greatest number, because a little less violent, but attention, it is not because the song is softer that they are not METAL.
