"Farage Roared From Outside Parliament" Ben Habib Responds To Sacking As Reform UK Deputy Leader

Former Reform UK deputy leader Ben Habib says he is "concerned" about "the mechanisms by which decisions are made" within the party after he was replaced.
Joining Talk's Kevin O'Sullivan, he said: "Nigel lost his seat seven times, it didn’t stop him making one hell of a roar from outside Parliament."
Reform announced the parliamentary roles their MPs will be taking on as leader Nigel Farage aims to “professionalise” the party.
MP Richard Tice moves from the role of chairman to become deputy leader replacing Mr Habib, while Lee Anderson MP will become the chief whip.
Mr Habib has been a major player in Reform, serving as a Member for the European Parliament for the then-Brexit Party.
Reform returned five MPs in last week’s election but Mr Habib was one of the hundreds of unsuccessful candidates, finishing third in the Wellingborough and Rushden seat.

Humble? I think you should look at Cr David Bull’s reply to stepping down. Ben Habib was. Co-deputy leader with Dr David but their responses are vastly different. One steps down gracefully and ther’s ego is squawking like a stuck pig.

@@gwenstone8171 There was nothing derogatory about Ben's statement. I certainly didn't hear any squaking. Ben's a thoroughly nice man who was showing complete support for Reform. I hope Ben will still serve in the Reform Party in one form or another. Kevin was trying very hard to put words in Ben's mouth and it didn't work.

Nigel and Richard should be putting him in charge of a team building up their grass root support in those constituencies where they had a good second or third place candidate. Or put him in charge of their central office until a suitable by-election comes along. I'd like to see him in the House but he could be doing so much outside it too.

That is logical in terms of in-house parliamentary politics. it is to be hoped that Mr Habib finds a role that reflects well on Reform UK and himself and that he can obtain a deserved election to Parliament in due course.

@@sumary7663 Does he need to be? For the party to grow there needs to be local offices, databases of members to establish where the focus for the party should be placed, so that news letters and shared ideas can develop, there needs to be a central office. There also needs to be a point of contact with the media .. Ben could do all this while he waits for a bye election opportunity to become an MP.

Ben, you are too valuable to lose and Reform is what is needed. I don’t like internal politics as we the great British public are unaware of what is happening behind the scenes. We have five MPs now in parliament, a loss for the constituency who failed to accept Ben as their MP, it is their tragic loss. My plea to those who make decisions is to find a fitting place and title for this British patriot who has fought tirelessly for the the cause. We do not want a British version of the Long knives as per Germany all those years ago. Ben, stay with us for all our sakes, yours too.

I would put him in charge of co-ordinating the building of the 'movement', creating the nationwide network of canvassers and activists at constituency level that will support future parliamentary candidates in a way that was impossible at such short notice this time (and that would've made the C4 fiasco much more difficult to spring). The 'parliamentary party' has to be parliamentary in order to be a serious contender for government, or even opposition, in 2029. Otherwise they'll be seen as just another niche group of sad little activists like the Greens, with every seat considered a monumental victory. That's not the party any of us wants, including Ben, and I think his sacrifice will be temporary and pay dividends for the party and himself in the future in such a role. His obvious popularity among supporters makes him the perfect candidate for the role, freeing up those now in Parliament to focus more on their role without getting mired down in micro-management at grassroots level that is equally important, possibly more so.
