Gunfire erupted at a Donald Trump rally on Saturday, sparking panic in the crowd and spattering the Republican presidential candidate with blood, before he emerged and defiantly pumped his fist in the air and was ushered to a waiting car.
Trump grimaced and grabbed his ear before security hustled him away, his red "Make America Great Again" hat knocked off. The Secret Service and the former president's campaign said Trump was safe following the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, about 30 miles (50 km) north of Pittsburgh.
Live video showed blood spattered on Trump's right cheek and ear.
Downing Street in the United Kingdom issued a statement about the shooting:
“We are shocked by the scenes at President Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania. We condemn all forms of political violence in the strongest terms and we send our best wishes to President Trump and his family at this time."

What I read was they did notice him and a cop even raised himself up in the roof to confront him but fell off when the gunman had his rifle pointed his direction. I also read the snipers had him in their sight but were told by a female secret service agent to hold and not shoot first. So if that’s true, the snipers are certainly not to blame.

I was watching several witness accounts of the shooting. One guy was saying that he kept pointing at the roof of the building and yelling at the police and the secret service that a guy with a gun was crawling on the roof,. He said he pointed and yelled for like two or three minutes.

The biggest difference between the UK and the USA in this regard is the number of armed law enforcement agencies involved in the operation, often with no common communications net. It was clear that there were federal, state, and county tactical security assets present. This leads to a problem not generally faced in UK protection scenarios: the matter of having to differentiate friend from foe, potentially in a matter of seconds. To my eye, this appears to have been the main factor in this case. It was obvious that the Secret Service counter-sniper team had eyes on the shooter, but held their fire; this strongly indicates that they thought they might be seeing another protective asset, and were probably trying to get confirmation in order to prevent a potential friendly fire incident. When the shooting started, the Secret Service marksman's response was exemplary... he was on the scope and got his (fatal) shot off in under a second.

The T****, Campaign is supposed to be notorious for not paying for the venue of the rallies, this was in the news early in the year so since then it was supposed to be difficult to book the better known venues who shunned booking T****, but also because there were other venues that was for free for T****, to use, so I guess this venue was one of those, i mean if you expected a stadium or something of that sort.
