Vet here. My Dad earned several purple heats in Korea/Vietnam. According to harry, the only time he saw injured soldiers was on the flight home. Because he was nowhere near the front. My dad earned his last purple heart getting shot down in Vietnam in a chopper. I find this insulting. Give the award to a US purple heart Vet who did something special.

The ESPY accolade should have been awarded to or shared between the few remaining US WW2 veterans, irrespective of any lauded sporting achievements on their parts. These men stormed the DDAY beaches. True athleticism. Every step these veterans have taken, every ball they have tossed, every bat they have raised, every game they have watched, individually or perhaps with children, grandchildren or great grandchildren, represented the achievements of free men, of a free nation. Thank you to the US veterans for fighting the Allied fight - to free the oppressed and to defend the threatened... the ESPY is and always will be yours.
