We signed Eriksen for 6 months. He helped us out, we helped him out…that’s it! Free agent …he went his way, we did the Brentford thing and replaced him with someone younger and could someday be better in Daamsgaard. No one player good or bad will change the Brentford way.🐝

I always thought Eriksen made the wrong decision because of the support he got at Brentford with fans vs the nightmare he was signing with at Man United. He was a star at Brentford and is lost in a mix of mediocrity at MU. It won’t matter how good he is in that mix of players, he will be in a constant uphill battle.

I don’t condone booing and I don’t boo at games. I can however understand both Eriksen’s desire to go to another club and the reaction from Brentford fans. As a Spurs fan, I don’t boo former Spurs players myself and I don’t like when other fans do it but I get it from the fans perspectives. I really do think Eriksen would have had a better run at Brentford than any other club could offer this season, but I get why he jumped ship too.

@@frankdux5693 indeed. When he left Spurs I wasn’t mad. I think he felt that was the best decision for him at the time. I don’t think United was a good decision even before the season kicked off, but it’s his decision.

Under normal circumstances I'd agree with Simon Jordan but in the case of Eriksen, he pretty much saved Brentford from dropping straight back down to the Championship at the end of last season, so Brentford fans booing him was a little bit tasteless. They also should have offered him a longer contract than just 6 months and he'd still be there.

First, Eriksen's arrival coincided with multiple first teamers returning from injury at the same time, most importantly Raya. Eriksen was important, 100% no doubt. But to say he saved them singlehandedly is a completely lazy narrative. The team didn't spend one day in the relegation zone all season. And second, they did offer him a contract longer than 6 months, but 6 months was all he would sign.

No he didn't pretty much save us from relegation, he certainly helped but up until Eriksen joined we had 7 first teamers out injured which coincided with our dreadful run through Jan and Feb.Most Brentford supporters would say that the return of Raya from 3 months out had as much if not more influence on our final league position.

The whole point of this story is CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN , signed a short term deal with us at Brentford , he came in and lived up to every last word of the contract ! He knew Brentford , needs a little more time to devolope into a top 6 team ! time of which he has not got , so , it was a WIN / WIN situation , he got back into football , at the top level , we finished comfortably in the Premiership and picked up £132 million , for where we finished ! and another season there ! so whats the problem , hes given us time and money , to develope our squad ! for me he was a great signing , and I wish him , his dream of a cup winners medal in the , evening of his career ! but it was nice , to show him what he had helped create ! COME ON YOU BEES ! Lets do this thing ! its like medicine to me and whats left of my mates , who are well in their 70s now ! to see our dreams come true under Matthew Benham ! .

He wanted to go back to Tottenham (was loved there and his older child goes to school in London) and he waited. Turned out Conte didnt want him. Still could have stayed at Brentford especially after the incident might learn money wasnt everything (he had enough regardless of where he stay or go anyway). United offered a lot of money and that was that. So no he doesnt deserve better imo.

Must be a shortage of discussion points. Fans boo away players that were with them once, whoever they are. Especially when they visit their ground shortly afterwards with another team . Fans are not renown for taking a balanced viewpoint. Football support would be a lot duller if they did. Not really a talking point.

It's ridiculous seeing people criticise him for going to Man United. Brentford signed him because he is a very good football player, not due to pity. They offered him a 6 month contract, which he fulfilled and then decided to move to a bigger club; albeit one that is a shambles at this point. People talk about loyalty, yet it's obvious they wouldn't have offered him a longer term contract out of sympathy if he hadn't of met their expectations. Clubs at that level don't operate like that.

If United did a character assessment on Eriksen they would not have signed him. As a Spurs fan I was quite happy to see him leave because in the last 18 months he was underwhelming and throughout his time with us he did not consistently perform in the big games. Good player when things are going well. Would not trust him in a mid table battle.

Nope, he deserved what he got. Speaking as a Brentford fan, we treated him with absolutely incredible respect while he played for us. And when the season ended the club still treated him with respect by offering him a new contract and just telling him to go and speak to other clubs. And what he did, was drag us on for 6 weeks giving us hope he would sign, then the club found out from Twitter that he was signing for Man Utd instead of him telling us right from the beginning that he had no desire to stay at the club, which was obviously the case. The way I see it, he went to a different club for the money (because it can’t be because they are a great team) and our fans feel like that he showed us no respect and so that is why we aren’t treating him with respect Edit: and not to mention, the way he left just leaves a terrible feeling. Because Benrahma made sure that his transfer benefited the employees of the club, and so many of our players that left treated us with respect and only left because we were in the championship. Him being booed shouldn’t be unexpected and while I don’t exactly agree with it, you can’t expect us to do anything else

Put him in the attacking midfield position. That way United can profit from his quality He is useless as a deep playmaker currently with Fred and mctominay by his side. Rashford on the left and Bruno on the right. And playing some academy players in midfield. Ten Hagg needs to stop giving chance after chance to mcfred. At least he can bring some academy players and play them in midfield.

How can you call a player disloyal when they play out their contract. Brentford were fully aware he could leave because of the player he is and what he has achieved. They gave him a chance by offering him a contract on probably a half the wage he got at inter and he repayed them by playing out his contract and helping brentford establish themselves in the PL. it’s a joke to boo him and label him disloyal

A lot of these comments have lost the plot. Eriksen was at Brentford for ONE main reason and that was they were one of the only teams willing to take a chance on him after what happened. Otherwise Brentford would never have been in contention of signing a player of his quality (T. Frank literally said the same in an interview). That's sort of changed now since they secured another PL season and ended up 13th. You forget the form they were in before Eriksen got there. So Brentford helped Eriksen out by giving him an initial chance, but he more than repaid that debt. Come a new season, he was ALWAYS going to go to a bigger team as he's a champions league caliber player (joke is then that he went to utd of places :p )

He doesn’t owe Brentford anything no player owes any club anything. It’s a short career make as much money as possible and regardless where united are it’s still united.

I speak as a brentford fan. We loved Christian at our club, he was the star player. He would have been the first name down on the sheet, with a team built around him. He's gone from being THE player to being 'a player'. Other than financially, I dont see what he gains joining Man Utd, there is where a lot of us brentford supporters are pissed off. I'm sure if he went back to spurs we could have understood that. He left to join a declining man utd where he is never going to be as loved, appreciated, and to be honest effective as he would have been at brentford. I feel he has possibly not done himself any favours prior to the world cup. If these results keep happening, who's to say he doesnt get a regular start, and jeopardising his world cup start chances/performances. Just my take. I didn't boo, I respect what he did for us but I cant have the same view on him as I had when he was a player.

Like souness just said.. No player will decline a massive club for a much smaller one.. Brentford will never ever win a Premier league title or qualify for Europe..👍

I think what happened was that he was probably sold a dream, and that the previous season was just a blip and that we will be back in European football which is obvs not the case

I’m sure there’re plenty of players that’ve seen Man United to be more trouble than it’s worth. Money aside you’d really only got there if you were willing to bet that you could be the person to turn it all around, most players haven’t even entertained them and those that have gone there for a a few quid have quickly jumped ship. Eriksen, who isn’t the average player, does not need Manchester United.

Will try and fill in the blanks on this as the media only knows half the story. Brentford fans booed because of the way he left not because he left. When he first joined the Bees on his media round he spoke about family being a priority and not money after his cardiac arrest . He also said European football would be nice. When season finished we offered him a contract to make him the highest paid player ever. He sat on it and told the club he would consider it but quite rightly would consider other options. But would tell the club first out of respect his decision. Everything he said before indicated not uprooting his family and London being the only option. So as you can imagine bees fans even though a slim chance we thought we were in the mix. This dragged on for weeks , then it was announced he was signing for UTD. And so I hear no phone call out of respect to Brentford first letting them know his intentions. Then followed a weak PR 4 line statement thanking Brentford… If he said at the end of his stay I’m off. He would of got a different reception. It was all the guff he said in the media and how he handled his departure that made the BEES fans angry. The bigger story would of been Christian staying. But in the end he just ended up being attracted by one thing….money…

They took a chance on him because of his ability, not out of sympathy. Also, how is moving to a bigger club cowardly? It only makes sense a player would choose that option, especially when he has a chance of playing regularly in that side.

Eriksen left for money. The mess Utd are in is not attractive to players, de jong for example. And the way he left was awful. There was no actual thank you from him, and he made Thomas Frank look like a fool but going back on his promise. He used our club as a stepping stone after we are the only club which gave him a chance. It it weren’t for us he could be sitting at home watching football WISHING he was on that pitch. He showed a lack of class, so we gave that back.
