Alex Crook is the second biggest grifter in sports, behind Kaveh Solhekol on Sky Sports. Unfortunately for me, they are the least of the problems in football at the moment. I'm sick of seeing grown men who lack any kind of self-respect cheat by rolling around on the floor, screaming over the slightest bit of contact (if there is any) for the entire match. Mediocre players are being called 'world class,' goalkeepers can't even catch a ball, and cowardly players halfheartedly try to head the ball to name a few. Ex-professional players praise England's performance against Switzerland, calling it amazing, but it was diabolical. They had one shot on target in 90 minutes, and every cross they made was to no one, not even close to anyone. People have been fed this nonsense for years and repeatedly told that it's great, to the point where they actually believe it. The powers that be have taken a sport that I loved for 40-odd years and turned it into the abomination I watch today. I don't expect it to be as brutal as the '70s and '80s, but some middle ground between then and now would be great.
