I marvel at how Tallulah's laugh manages to carry over the laughs of an entire crowd! Also gotta love the innuendo with Ethel mentioning how Tallulah could never finish anything in an hour in a half- except a man or two! (Women as well I'm sure haha)

Ethel Barrymore actually brought Tallulah Bankhead up in the Theater and in many ways was responsible for her long career.

I just finished reading Miss Barrymore's autobiography, "Memories." It is fantastic! Her story of how that famous line she invented, "That's all there is and there isn't any more," is a hoot!

Radio Archives out of Spokane, Washington has restored in crystal clarity the first 27 shows (primarily the first season) and they are available in a 5 CD set with direct downloads also available. Radio Archives has also restored a few others from the second season which are available in exceptional sound and tonal quality in their Archives Treasures series. "The Big Show" ran on NBC radio from 1950 until 1952 comprising a total of 57, 90 minute radio shows, probably the longest (time-wise) program ever to run in radio history during the Golden Era prior to the advent of television. Most radio shows were 30 minutes in length and a few ran for 60 minutes in length but "The Big Show" ran a full 90 minutes per episode. "The Big Show" was also the most expensive show ever to air on radio and possibly television.

Fun to hear Ethel slumming a bit.

She was always a real 'get-down' gal, fun at parties and easily bored of being treated like the Queen Mother of American Theater.
Ethel sounds gregarious and cheeky as always, Tallulah sounds a bit drunk but sparkling as ever. These two together are gas!

They really should have had their own show together. What a hoot. I wish more people would have watched my Ethel Barrymore episode. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qdeVndd606nTdGw.html
