I’m so thankful for the internet! I’m 56 and growing up in the 70’s it was a handful of record producers who decided who got contracts and air play. Now though we can see talent from all over the world, enjoy their hard work, appreciate and learn from them. Thank you so much for this video! Happy Holidays to you and your family!

You nailed it with this comment! So true.
@orion681
@orion681 Жыл бұрын
I appreciate your comment, as I am one of those musicians that never made it. But I'll say, this guy is a drummer, not a band. The difference between good musicians and good songwriters is a lot. This guy shreds, but can he collaborate on a song people would want to hear? I used to think along these lines, but now that there really are no more rock stars, there are no bands. Like the biggest stage you can be on these days is a social medium or KZfaq. You call that "better" than the scene in the seventies? When is the last time you heard a decent song on the radio that was (at least mostly) written by the people performing it while playing real instruments and not using DAW functionality to cheat and correct pitch and time? The answer is you don't because there are no more big bands. There are few concert stages left and it's mostly electronic acts and hip hop. So while it's nice to see some things on the modern Internet you may never have before, it's also taken away from the big shows and events that everyone you knew went to. I miss the gatekeepers a little, they generally put out well produced material.
@rwfrench66GenX
@rwfrench66GenX Жыл бұрын
@@orion681 I appreciate what you’re saying. Technology has altered the perception of talent, but when you watch live shows it’s obvious who has put in the time and who is a post production hero. My point was more to the availability of seeing musicians from around the world, hearing different styles, different techniques that we didn’t have back then. One of my brothers was a studio drummer and made quite a good living doing scores for movies, TV shows and advertising jingles. It wasn’t the world tour and groupie fest he left home dreaming about but it paid for the $800,000 house he retired in so it wasn’t all bad.
@orion681
@orion681 Жыл бұрын
@@rwfrench66GenX I agree with you man....there are a lot of player that wouldn't have been nearly as well known if not for KZfaq. Guthrie Govan is on that list...he always would have been the most adept guitarist to ever live but not nearly as well known. I just know that the mainstream stuff everyone used to complain about still usually brought about good shows and good times. Every legit touring act at this point are legacy bands. Makes me sad.

His snare sounds awesome.. I'm digging the rimshots too. I like when he and drummers in general use no muffling on their snares.. they just let the snare sound natural and ring out. I'm a drummer and I own a starclassic kit. I also own a Stewart Copeland sig snare and a David Silveria sig snare. Best snares I've ever owned. I love tama too because no matter the line, if it's entry level or pro high end line, you get a lot of bang for your buck on the entry level kits.
