I remember going to the doctor as a preteen and the nurse tried to take my blood pressure. She had to use an adult tool to take my blood pressure and I heard her laughing with another nurse about my arms being to big for my age and my weight afterwards. To be 35 years old and never had an adult bP cuff… I know your struggles! I’ve just never was able to gain weight and because of all the name calling, ( olive oil, skinny Minnie, etc) and the fact that the women in my family are natural “stacked” both boobs and butt everybody still tells me I have an eating disorder. I had to convince several doctors all my life starting as a child that I’m not anorexic balemic or any type of eating disorders! Everyday part of my prayer is to gain just enough wait so people won’t say I’m sick or I don’t feel like I have to over eat when people are watching! I’ve had nurses and doctors laugh at my face and tell me to just eat more!

@@jumokabward7450 People are so negative and could care less how it affects us. The upside about this (if there is one) is that sometimes karma does hit those people where it hurts. I witnessed it happen a time or two with some people who really had it coming to them. I just wish that I could see it come back on everybody who has done me dirty. I think my depression would completely go away if that were to happen.

Right!!! Reminds me of the time my "friend" laughed and pointed out my knock knees while I was wearing a short skirt and she was walking behind me. Also, there were 3 of us walking so she could care less of how humiliating that was. Then when I came back on her by telling her to look at her own knees that were not only knocked, but skinny as hell, she got mad at me. Then she said "But I know how to stand so that it doesn't look like it." I told her something back and it was over, but I never forgot that. She also said some other mean things that I had to check her on but that was the most memorable. Her ego was so big that she really felt like she could just tear me down but was not supposed to get checked for doing so. Also, she did this to others as well. I stayed "friends" with her just to be able to witness her karma because I knew she had it coming. And I was right!!! Over the years, she has gotten dogged out by numerous guys, was publicly dumped by one, left by her babies' daddy, had numerous fallouts with female friends and fell out with her 2 sisters who were the ones who always had her back when she was in a jam and was talked negatively about by her boss at her new job after having just moved from Minnesota to South Carolina for it. The funny part to me is that she tells me about every downfall in her life. She has no idea that the only reason I decided to stay "friends" with her is because I knew she would get thrown off of her high horse and I didn't want to wonder if she ever got hers. I wanted to witness it.

I was bullied a lot growing up, mostly by peers, but I remember an adult or two, saying something negative to me. Over the years, I would act like it wasn't a big deal and try to forget, just to be able to live. But it seems that since covid hit and I've been home a lot, having time to really just sit with my thoughts, I can't stop thinking of those negative things. It's like I'm having some sort of delayed anger issue. I regret not standing up for myself more than anything. I think of all the things I could've said and how those things would never fly with me now, if they were said to me. I even stopped talking to 2 friends this year for things they said over 10 years ago that I didn't check them on back then. It's like I'm doing a review of my life and realizing who I should've cut out of it years ago. So since I didn't do it back then, I'm doing it now. I'm sure they are confused as to why it's been a year and I don't return their calls but I don't care anymore. It's like I'm getting revenge and thinking about me for a change. Suppressed anger/humiliation is a hard pill to swallow and really does follow you for life it seems. I guess for Tami it manifested itself in the form of body issues. For me, it's am ongoing, "functional" depression that has been with me for decades.
@moonsyoungestsun6550
@moonsyoungestsun6550 2 жыл бұрын
@@OldskolFan I can relate but I was told negative things across the board because I was an introverted person in school. It's like once they labeled me as something, that's all I was in their eyes. If I did something out of the perimeters of that label, they'd make a big deal about it. So I stayed in that box just so I wouldn't be called out if I did something that was extroverted. I think about those times and my hate for those people is deeper now than back then. People really can do damage to you in ways they don't even realize. I've suffered with depression since I was 11 and just learned to live with it. All I can hope for is that karma has paid them multiple visits over the years.

I understand feelings are very important but i think after a certain age, everyone should get to a point in their life when they don’t allow they’re feelings to take a front seat in their lives! Like come on, if someone’s concerned about you and speaks on it, although your feelings may be hurt, you need to also consider the entire situation and know they care for you hence why they’re approaching you with their concern. I think the worse situation is when someone notices something wrong and ignores it (doesn’t approach you about it) just to spare your feelings? That’s terrible. Obviously wisdom needs to guide their method of approach, there are bad/disrespectful ways to confront a situation but if someone’s saying they’ve noticed that you’ve gotten skinny and asking if everything’s okay or saying they’ll pray for you, I personally don’t think that’s means to be mad or annoyed at the person. Because in the end were their concerns even wrong?? No. It may not be cancer of the body that she has but she does have cancer of the mind because any type of mental disorder is draining, exhausting, and hard !

What's best for her is to accept professional counseling!!! Thought her childhood she had been abused sexually. Because of the extent of the abuse she need professional help. Obviously she couldn't do it on her own. I have a problem with her failing to seek professional help. Can't she see that she's not capable of doing it herself. She really isn't trying to help herself. She wasn't that frail when she and Shaunie O'neal were acting together. She was a healthy size .Just lately since she married Reggie she's start getting skinny. She wasn't that skinny. actually looked real healthy. Tami you have to make it make since. Only since she been with Reggie has she begun losing weight!!! She may be going thru a mid-life crisis. Something is going on with her but definitely not body dismorphia. She married this younger man and now wants to be a Twiggy. She know damn well that looking that frail ain't attractive. Tami make it make sense. Does she feel that she needs to make Reggie feel that she's sickly he'll stay with her since she is older than he. If she believes he truly loves her than let that be so!!! She didn't feel insecure about her appearance until she got with him. It just don't add up!!! It sounds more like a mental thing where she is going thru a mid-life crisis episode. Maybe she doesn't want to really be with him anymore. She appears to be wanting attention??? Everything she says isn't adding up. ...... That's my opinion.

Tami is speaking to my soul man… This is why I love this show, I can learn at least ONE thing and apply it to my life when they talk about serious topics like this one. I relate to Tami’s struggle because being on the other side of the spectrum, I look at myself in the mirror and it’s hard not to criticize everything I see. Literally every little detail. Then it’s a slippery slope and you think that since *you* don’t like yourself who’s gonna like you? and why should they? We gotta be extra careful not to let the hurt child make the adult decisions - and by that I mean, we gotta start and at least try to look at the positive every once in a while.

I’m totally glad to hear that Tammi is Ok and she is and has always been beautiful. This is another reason why adult bullying should be brought to light, remember when Evelyn made fun of how Tammi looked and at that time nothing was even wrong with Tammi’s appearance but of course the bully found something and Shaunie fed into it and laughed and chuckled with Evelyn.

Well said, especially "We all need to work on finding an inner peace that no hate filled human can penetrate." I'm going through this right now. I've been thinking about all of the degrading, inconsiderate, humiliating things people have said or done to me from childhood to adulthood. Going forward, I vowed to never let anyone else ever get away with just saying what they want without me checking them. That feeling of not sticking up for myself for most of my life is now haunting me. So since I can't do anything about the past, the only thing I can do is catch the negative people in the moment from now on. So far, I've done just that. I still get pissed and depressed when thinking of how low I felt about myself to just let people walk all over me. I didn't realize just how low my self esteem was. So all I can do is try not to let it happen moving forward and accept the past, no matter how pathetic it was for me.

You have a point. I was bullied a lot growing up because I was/still am an introvert. Plus, I've dealt with negativity from others as an adult. I always wondered what was going on with them mentally to be so mean for no reason.......at least on the surface there seemed to be no reason. I never felt the need to bully or be negative to someone just to do it. But some people seem to get pleasure out of it which always made me think they had to have underlying issues. Now, thinking back, Tami had a very dominant/bullying type of personality on Basketball Wives. So maybe that's how these people end up like this. They go through things that they feel like they can't control and then unleash on innocent people to feel like they are superior or have control. Hence, bullying is born.

Yea but it’s not so strange when you realizes people aren’t “born attractive”. A lot of insecure people turn to “getting attractive (make up, diets, lifting weights etc)” and think once they get attractive, at least to societies standard, they’ll be happy. It’s kinda like “money doesn’t buy happiness” but in this case “attractiveness doesn’t buy happiness”

My bff had to see a therapist after having bariatric surgery. She lost 100 lbs in 4 months. She suffered from the same disorder. Anytime she gained a couple lbs she was scared she would become obese again. She’s doing much better now and having a baby :)

This video needs at least a million views! Body Dysmorphic Disorder is something that should be taught in middle school so that teens can learn the signs early & avoid a lifetime of struggles. Much respect to Tami for sharing - she’s helping a lot of people with her vulnerability.

I have borderline body dysmorphic tendencies, and the problem is you just never look good enough to yourself. Even when I lost close to 25kg, at my absolute thinnest, I remember looking in the mirror and feeling fat. I now look back at those photographs and hate I didn’t appreciate the health and body I had. I’m trying so hard to get back to the weight that I once complained about

I praise her for being so open and honest! I wish more ppl in Hollywood would be this honest. Young ppl look at magazines, watch celebrities on tv and movies and we grow up thinking this is what we need to be to be excepted. I wish more companies would hire ppl who look like everyday ppl, no plastic surgeries or botox etc, just be yourself because we are ALL Beautiful how we are. 💕

It takes strength for Tammy to reveal her diagnosis and what she has been struggling with to the world. Her story may help others dealing with the same disorder or something similar. Loni is a real friend reaching out to Tammy to check & see if she was good. God bless!

Our society really needs to modify how we discuss other people's bodies. Even a comment made out of concern can push people further into illness. Be very, very careful about what you say.
