One of my all time favourite kit , I have 4 original ones and about 4 of the ones towing the Breda 20mm AA gun , and a whole stash of after market wheels storage and figures

Now that's a collection! Just missed out on the "Breda LRDG" kit on Ebay myself. Good to see I'm not the only one with a "favourites" collection (mine is Tamiya Tigers). Cheers mate!

Thankyou Pete, that's a very comprehensive review, I am looking forward to getting one of these kits as I think that they are currently out of production. At least they are unobtainable here in the UK.

Hi mate. Glad you like the video. Being a 2013 kit they probably aren't in Tamiya's current product line, but they do turn up quite regularly on Ebay. Even the original kit from 1976 turns up every now and then. There's some on Ebay at the moment from Japan, and the US, but these must be the gold plated ones :) as the prices are ridiculous. Hopefully one will turn up when you least expect it! Cheers!

Great review as always. Also have this kit and love it. Interesting in 1942 they also used the Greeks in the middle east as a special forces unit called the Sacred Band. Your videos are informative and a pleasure to watch. Thank you.

Thank you John. Yes, I believe the Greeks named their Special Forces unit after the Sacred Band of Thebes, and a unit that fought in the early 19th century Greek War of Independence. They went on to form the basis of the current Greek Special Forces. Really appreciate the compliment about my videos. I love researching the subject, whether tank, plane or whatever. For me, it's part of model making. Adds a bit of depth to the model, I think. Cheers mate!

A great history leeson on a great little kit, one thing I did like about the original kit was, it had markings for a Kiwi ( New Zealand ) unit, but I believe one of the original kits issues was the tyres would sp,it after a few years, you have yourself another subscriber, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍👍

Thanks mate. Thanks for the sub, glad you liked the video. I do recall some of the very early "rubber" tyres coming out of Japan had a tendency to dry out and split after a while, but haven't head of that in a while. And yes, Major Bagnold who formed the original Group, wanted men who were tough, resilient, and self reliant, and he thought New Zealanders fitted the bill precisely. So he went to the 2nd New Zealand Division for volunteers. Which is why most of the LRDG trucks have Maori names. Believe about half the division volunteered...typical Kiwis! 😉Cheers !

The issue with the tires is not only are they hard to clean up after awhile at least one of those tires will develop a crack. It happened on the first kit of this that I built so when I purchased another kit to build I sourced a set of resin tires/wheels to replace the plastic/rubber wheel combination. Other than that problem with the tires I love the kit even by todays standards.

Thanks for letting me know this. Think I will take you advice and source myself some resin replacements. I can always use the "rubber" ones as a diorama accessory somewhere. Cheers mate!

A thumbs up for pronouncing Tamiya the way I do (rather than the 'correct' way)

Thanks mate. Been saying it that way since I bought my first Tamiya kit fifty years ago, back in the early '70's. Think it might be a bit late now...😅 Cheers!

I was curious if this was the re-boxed earlier kit, which it appears to be? The MB figures are available, but the chevvy is quite elusive...thanks for the informative vid 👍
@PetesKits
@PetesKits Жыл бұрын
Yes indeed. This one is the 2nd re-box of the original Command Car kit from 1976 (#MM192) with MB figures included. The 1st re-box was a co-op with Italeri, and featured their 20mm Breda AA gun (#89785, early 2000's). I did see one of the original kits on Ebay a couple of months ago, but it went very quickly, and I missed out on it. The original and the Tamiya/Italeri kits are quite rare, but this Tamiya/MB one does turn up on Ebay every now and then. Glad you liked the video! Cheers!

I have been trying to get this kid for a while now but can never find it. I am with a transport museum here in Queensland and one of the members has a former LRDG truck all restored and on display for the moment

This is one of those kits that is much sought after, and they don't last long when they do eventually appear on Ebay or where ever. Best suggestion is to check Ebay on a regular basis, daily if you can. It's how I found this one. Cheers!
