Oh Lord this takes me back to when I was a kid and thumbing through the Airfix catalogue when ever it came out . Wishing I could afford every kit in the book and drooling over Roy Cross,s outstanding art work . I,m nearly 70 now and treasure those happy carefree childhood days , no computers ,no mobiles just pure imagination.

I had Tamiya catalogues going back to mid 1970's. I cut them apart for my scrap books. The Verlinden dioramas were usually cool, and there was other people's work shown too. One year Shep Paine made an appearance with an M-48 in Vietnam, and M-! Abrams with engine issues dioramas. I kept all of my Monogram diorama sheets too.

I've sometimes wondered what the full Tamiya catalogue would reveal. A lotta kits as it happens. I wonder if there is an online edition to obtain individual kit descriptions. The presentation here is valuable as far as it goes and the next best thing to holding the printed copy. Thanks mate for sharing the catalogues contents.

Is definitely changed somewhat since my first category back in 1978 in Singapore when Mr Tamiya visited the island, although I missed his visit because I was in the Malaysian jungle on operation, the best model manufacturer ever, ☺.

Are used to get this catalogue back in the early 80s as a schoolboy… So good to see it’s still going. I’m currently restoring my original wild Willy jeep and my TGX nitro car from the early 90s. The original catalogue is used to have all the RC and nitro cars in it but it seems no more?

About the RC trucks,You can all buy them un-assembled. But they got also ready to roll models. Assembled nearly completed,only need the lipo-battery in it and off you got. Those are mostly about 40%-50% more expensive the the kits you need to assemble yourself.But the Volvo FH 16 woodtruck comes in a special bleu color and has some extras on it.

My feet needed eyes to see this, thank you so much, I never thought both my eyes were not enough. If I could I would not listen to the music, but my ears heard it before my brain knew what was going on. Time is definitely slower the faster you move, almost like a black hole is a darkened room can't be seem, only felt.

Just imagine if Tamiya made American muscle cars ? Dayyyyyyym ! They are truly missing out on a huge market. A viciously not as big as Military, or European, Asian cars but its still a big market they could capitalize on.

I was wondering does Tamiya put out any metalizer paints ? I was wondering because from the catalog it didnt show any also they do enamel paints also but been looking for them in the states an cant find any so is their enamel paint range only sold in Japan ?

Enamel paint has chemicals that dont travel well.. like the panel line range.. you struggle to import it into this country

Great review .Notice the Tamiya models makers, deliberately don't over do it hardly any wear and tear but they look amazing as its very slight to the correct scale . It's all about the detail model and not the weathering as I think it can be over done and then distracting causing the main persons focus on the style of the weathered model and not the actual model .

I have just got back into building tank's and i chose TAMIA, to do it , i have started to do a time line of developement of British tanks from ww2 to present day but there is no sign of the Comet 1/35th scale , i know they did do it when i was younger , but only seem to be able to find it in 1/48 scale, i know Bronco do it but im not paying £80 odd quid any one any ideas ?

@@MOS6510Models Thanks. I will check with my hobby shop as they get their own copy and may be able to order them. If not then there is the distributor. That 16 euro works put to about $ 22 CAD. Not a bad price. I just like them to be able to see the built up models. I currently have 189 Tamiya kits in my stash. Mostly armour. And Yes I will subscribe.

Sorry Mos, but the Tamiya catalogue these days is a shadow of its former self. I remember back in the 70's, 80's and 90's when the catalogue used to have a whole section of brilliant diorama builds. Plus the price they charge for it is a total rip off. Also, like you said, they don't include future releases, so you have no idea what they may bring out in 2022. The biggest disappointment with Tamiya for me, is the lack of 1/12 and 1/20 scale formula 1 cars. They used to do loads of them in both scales. But not any more. I also wish they would re-release or new tool, their 1/25 scale tanks.

Yes some very valuable points there.. the issue they had was licensing the old cars.. which is a shame, also they would have to re work the models with tobacco advertising too.. And yes the diorama builds always looked good but marketing wise they feel it takes away from the product itself apparently

Agree. Would love to do another Ronnie Petersen Lotus 78 in 12th scale. I had a collection of them, but it was my fave. You could super-detail them and if you got the paint right, they were a great display. The yellow turbo Renault was beautiful too.

It is a great shame thatTamiya have not produced Civilian figures in 1:35 scale such as Masterbox and Miniart have done over the recent years and yet Tamiya do make nice figures. they really are missing out on wha t people need for dioramas.

Tamiya and many other manufacturers have completely priced me out of the hobby. The 1/48 F-4B and the 1/35 M107 are both over $100 which is fucking asinine for kits in those scales I don’t care how excellent they are.
