The Tamiya Avante 2001 was released in 1990. Since then all the other Avante series cars except the Avante 2001 have been re-released. Hence it is highly collectable. I’ve been collecting parts over the years for this custom build. The parts chosen are to replicate and also strengthen the car as I intend to use this as a runner. Hope you enjoy the build video.

The rerelease bodies are hard to get. Even the 2001 originals are going for crazy money. But they look so cool! Hope you do do it. Or Tamiya rereleases the 2001. 😊

Super vid thanks for posting. Currently working on a Avante 2001 kind of Black Special myself at the mo. I've gone the modern route also and on the drive train frontnt used vqs geared diffs. Old school silver screws instead of titanium. Great tip re. shimming the drive shafts. I will also go the same way

Awesome! Great to be able to share with others & meet like minded people. I’ve got new VQS gears in hand for my original Avante 2001 rebuild which will be way in the future. Get these parts while they are still around. Yours should look original with old style screws.
