Great video, I still have my original Hot Shot and restored it with Original parts mostly:). The last time I ran it was after a mid winter thaw and over night a -50f degree plunge in temp. The snow was crusted on top and was cratered like the moon. I ran several batteries through it. One of the best surfaces I had ever run on. Good times!

Hotshot for me is the most iconic buggy of All time, the mono shock suspension is awesome to look at, maybe not the best performance but a stunning simple design
@DeliriumElectric2 жыл бұрын
I agree. It was the buggy that got me stuck at the bigger toy shops watching the Tamiya promo vids on endless loops.

Don't roll your eyes at me 😂 Hotshot is one of my favourite's, I have an original in used but running condition and always wanted to have a re re on the shelf next to it. Maybe one day. Than for another great video mate👍🦘🇦🇺

Got one last March. So much nostalgia as I had one when it first came out. Didn’t know what I had then. My pride and joy now. Gold wheels are a must.

Tyre sniffing is definitely an addiction!!! It’s such an awesome smell, the very first thing I do when I open a new kit is grab the tyres for a sniff!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Great video!👍.Always wanted one when i was a kid but it just never happened. I remember seeing it in the Tamiya catalogue and it just blew me away. I hadn't seen an off road buggy like that sitting so close to the ground before. Wow! Maybe now is the time for me to pull the trigger and actually get one.🤔

Lol, The Hotshot was my first (hobby grade) RC buggy. Christmas 1985, I can’t believe it been that long. Glenn, there is one the missing for me, that is the Optional Technipower motor! Don’t forget the 24 thousand bearing set 😂🤣 so many bearings 👍🏻😎

It's funny about the gold wheels cos where I grew up out in the bush in Aus there was no hobby shop and the 2 Hotshots that ended up in town both had white wheels and that is 100% how I love the Hotshots and they are excellent looking cars!

Love the video. I had a hotshot back in ‘85 and came with white wheels as remember when a guy turned up to the RC club with a new Tamiya Fox and first time we’d seen gold wheels, they looked amazing. Ahead of the Impreza rally car by a few years. Might need to get my 8yo son a hotshot now. Was a great car until the Mid Optima and Cat came along

My mate had one back in 87 when we all got RC cars for Christmas. His older brother wanted a go and drove it straight under a car on a main road and it got crushed he was gutted and I don't think it ever got replaced.
@sullybiker65203 жыл бұрын
I hate people wanting to drive RC cars, because this _invariably_ happens. They give it full gas and just at the point their brain is registering 'wow, that's fast' _your_ brain is already at "STOP! STOP! STOP!". People think they're toys, and they are, but they're _serious_ toys.

My first was the Hot Shot second hand. Must have been about 86/87. Love that kit. Ran a black sprint motor, a ?techni plus? and then got my license sold it off. But I always wanted the Super Shot. So I picked up a Super HotShot re-re. It’s a shelfie. But it think eventually I’ll chase up another Hot Shot. P.S. I love the Big Wig too. Love the design shape and the colour scheme. I have only heard that they don’t run so great, the steering is a bit pants. But in an ideal world I’d have one as well! Thanks again Glenn 👍🇦🇺🤓

When I bought my Tamiya Fox back in the eighties, I remenber that the shop had both the Fox and the Hot Shot on display. I went for the Fox because of the gold wheels so the Hot Shot must have had white ones in the shop.

Great video as always, made me laugh a few times!! I never used to like the Hotshot, but it's really grown on me over the years. I look back on the mid/late 1980's Tamiya cars and buggies and realise how many great ones they made. I got my first ever one, a Boomerang, in late 1987, I'd love another one but at current prices I doubt that even my internal organs would raise enough money ;) Look forward to seeing that Hotshot running mate, but please don't use the gold wheels!!

Yeah I just bought one. It's my first rere, and I got a sport tuned motor. It's awesome so far! Although it's got an issue where the rear right doggone comes loose and the suspension stiffs up. Not Shure what's up with that, but I still love it so far!

Addiction by tyre sniffing 😂, i have always liked the Hotshot too but never loved it lol, same with the Bigwig, when you get to spring time and some nice sunny warmer weather maybe take a boot load of cars to the track and spend the day driving/filming them, that way you will have loads of footage which can be used over many months, and also you will be able to compare the cars to each other on how they perform.

Hey Boss.. This is gonna sound really REALLY strange coming from me, but of all the car/trucks I have had, even other units with this gear train system and there many of them, well, this is one car I never owned, in fact, I have never even seen on in a out of the box, factory set up.. I have seen a few that the owners modified. meaning, they removed the rear single spring & shock damper and converted them to a dual rear shock set up that the other units had, as like with the Boomerang for example, Seeing the all red and black car set up, and this crazy blue rear shock damper tower mount... lol... In a future video, if you show case this car again, Can to do a few shots of the rear suspension system so I can see how it works. What is interesting, over the years, I have poked around on the interweb looking for videos of the rear, and nobody has video of that flexing and showing the equalizer bar sharing or dividing the load from left and right side, into one damper... Even the pictures on the web do not show case this very well, I bet I have maybe 8 pictures that are detailed enough to "KINDA" see what is is doing and how much it is doing.. but, seeing that in a future video even if it is just a 5 second shot of it flexing, would be great.. No hurry, it has only been 40 plus years.. lol.. I just can't see my self going out and buying one, just so I can see how the rear suspension works, when I really wasn't a huge fan of the series of cars, even though I had several other cars that ran this gear train..Don't get me wrong, I had so much fun with the units I had, no question of that, but as you slowly grow into the desire for faster and more technological cars, these got pushed to the last of the line. I always liked the look of these series, always had a really aggressive stance, like they are ready to fight each other, like no others... Thank you..

Iol addiction no sh..t!!! The Hotshot is such classic Glenn it could look like a tandy special and we would still all love it....The most iconic 4wd from tamiya ever! I love how it looks too but agree the Super Shot has the edge in looks but does not quite have the same reputation!
