Tamiya Mini 4WD AR Chassis Basic Tune Up - with a little Time Lapse

This is the last Tamiya car assembly/upgrade video for a while!
I need to make my car go faster, and just putting a faster motor in it won't do any good, because that will just fling the car off the track!
So I bought a Basic AR Chassis upgrade kit, and installed it in about 30 minutes.

I used to play them as a kid, when I used to save a month worth of pocket money to buy a single upgrade part. Just got back into the game 15 years later. You're lucky that you run on flat track, I run them on techinical tracks with a LOT of jumps, so a LOT more upgrade parts are needed. I spent close to $200 canadian (18500 yen) on mine already, and it's still nowhere near as fast (and stable) as some of the other cars running. But it sure is fun.

+Allan Liu I'd like a few more bumps and jumps to make things interesting! Some times. It's always just flat out speed. Cool, but a bit of variety wouldn't be unwelcome :)

Please post the next race! I can't wait to find out how you do with your upgrade. As for the green bearings, maybe you could paint them red with model paint... but the way the cars shoot around that track, the paint would probably wear away fast.

I wasn't actually planning to record the next race, but people are asking for it, so I guess I will! :) And I found some replacement caps, which includes several different colours in the pack for 200 yen.

I'm a Brit, when i was a kid in school i was friends with some chinese guys who introduced me to Tamiya Mini 4wd, i bought a couple of kits but never got to race them as there are no tracks in the UK :( Still have all my cars in a box in the attic somewhere!

Dig them out and make yourself a track out of cardboard! Not that hard really :) Cardboard, tape and hot glue are all you need!

I grew up in Japan in the 90's when it was really popular. I missed making them, so on my last trip Japan I picked one up and made them for my kids! I love painting them and doing upgrades on them. Next Time I'm in 九州 I should race you!

I did. I've got a new car now. It's a bit faster. I still don;t win much though :)

Well, it's been Auldey for me for awhile. Auldey is (well WAS) a cheap Chinese knockoff of Tamiya 4WD racers, but in it's later years, it evolved into it's own fair quality product. Not as good as Tamiya, but close in some respects. Auldey made some pretty awesome 4WD racers. I have about 20 of them, most with stock parts though.

bruce wayne I came to experience Japan and ended up staying. I'm fairly fluent conversationally in Japanese, but there is still lots of grammar and vocabulary I have to learn!
