I was just thinking that myself... Especially when Adam The Woo is off to other parts of the country. It is always nice to see parts of the Sunshine State that we don't always if ever get to see.

In all my years of living in FL, I have never heard of Monkey Island! This is a must-do whenever I come back!! They are so adorable! I'm with you, I could sit and watch them all day long, especially if that establishment has yummy beer and pizza! I also loved hearing all the history throughout the video, it always impresses me how well you can articulate all that information! You had some really beautiful shots in here too, it absolutely makes me miss FL. Definitely feeling nostalgic now! Great vid all around per usual!

I'm so happy to find your video 😊. I worked there 18 years ago and things sure have changed. They used to feed the monkeys left overs from the restaurant and use squirt guns to keep them from getting on the boat. I also lived there as a kid and we would get a boat from Mcrea's and sneak fruit and feed them. Thanks for sharing this video 😊

I live in Hernando county. Never knew there was a WW bunker at the airport And its across the street from the Tigard, where I golf. Gonna check it out next time. Good video Jay and props for pronouncing Chassahowitzka correctly. Been to monkey island many times. Tgats King's Bay lots of good scuba diving, can boat top Three Sisters spring vents. And boat ride in the Crystal River is beautiful and confluence with the gulf. There's also an important archaeological site right along the river.

There was one if these Aiming Bunkers located in Tampa at the old Henderson Army Airfield across ftom USF and where Bush Gardens and the industrial park sits. (MELS Hot Dog is in one if the old Atmy buildings. The bunker, if memory serves me(I was under 6yo) was across the street from the new(1959-60) Glass company on 46th Street. It was used by locals, including my father, to target practice. There was also one still in Perry ate the AirField in 1970 I visited during a skywatch there for the Solar Eclipse. Since these were used to align sights on aircraft, I'm sure every WWII Airfield has one. I glad to see this one is still there for the younger generations to see.

Hey there Tampa Jay, I happened upon your channel when searching for Florida Roadside Attractions. I've been to Florida a couple of times and enjoyed myself immensely and I really appreciate tagging along with you to see both places I've been to and others that I'd like to visit in the future. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but your style kind of reminds me of Huell Howser from the California's Gold series. (take that as a compliment, he was great and truly one of a kind!) Keep up the good work!

We have videos coming out about the Chazz, Monkey Island, and Manatee site seeing in the next few weeks. We kayaked that area and saw the monkeys. We got to see a bunch of manatees. The restaurants look awesome in that area. We used to have field trips to Homosassa Springs park and the Sugarmill when I went to school. Great video! We love this area! Oh and btw Monkey island is getting renovated starting in 2022 and it will take all year to do. If you want to see this place I would definitely visit in the next month.

they used those to calibrate the .50 caliber machine guns on the B17s, there is a gun club in Williston that has the same type of bunker and you can see where they anchored the B17s down to test fire them.
