M/K Tampen I - majestetisk avgang fra Kuringvågen ved Stokksund sommeren 2016. Et smykke av en båt med 100 hk Union semidiesel, motorlyden gir meg frysninger.

The wonderful thing about a semidiesel is that it will run on almost anything.

She is absolutely magnificent and her heartbeat is like none other! Shear unadulterated power. Everyone on the docks were in awe. Thank you for this video!

What a beautiful old boat! The engine absolutely steals the show though. If I was one of those old guys on the dock with a nice new fiberglass yacht, I would be willing to trade for that boat in an instant. That big single-cylinder hot bulb (semidiesel) engine is awesome!

Amongst a sea of fibreglass there is still some style, grace, hue and class. The semi-diesel is actually the sound of Norway.

Being a 100 HK its a twin not a single. My parents had an almost carbon copy of that lovely ex-fishing boat called "Nylund". It had a single cylinder 30 HK Union Semi-diesel. This was back in 1974...

The loudest thing in the whole area is an old boat, everyone stops to watch it. so lovely and silent in that harbour

A classic old boat. Originally for fishing or hauling local cargo? Any idea?

As far as I know Tampen 1 has been used mainly for fishing while she was in active service. There seems to be a hole in the history from 1902 up to 1920. However, Tampen 1 was said to have played a central role in experimental fishing for Atlantic bluefin tuna in 1926.

Hei! På Wikipedia står det litt om dette. For egen regning legger jeg til at på mindre fartøy kan MS bety motorskøyte. no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skipstyper

Yeah, gotta say this boat stirs something in you. Wonderful setting on a nice day in summer. What's it like in winter? Sorry to say it's a dinosaur and is not worth much.
