Im a parent. If you forbid something the kid is definitely going to do it anyway. Kids mimic their parents, if the parents are keen to have addictive behavior so will the kid. If not gaming, it might be alcohole or drugs, I'd prefer gaming addiction over any other addiction any day for my kids. Give out information and let your kid make their decision is the best choise. Reverse psychology works very well too.
