I like what Tandem is doing. I am hoping the Omnipod 5 does not keep getting delayed further. We use the Dash now and the 5 if as advertised will be a game changer for a parent/caregiver. I just keep hoping for the G7 to come out too since obviously q4 21 ain’t happening and no update from Dexcom.

@@danc6464 You have to remember that there is something called COVID... FDA pushed it back, not OmniPod.

Actually I prefer tube. I had omnipod but the pod is so large on your body and if it falls off you have to prime it again

It's in my opinion a piece of garbage just because it requires a smartphone to use it and on top of that it is only an Apple iPhone which are over priced garbage so it's completely useless

I love Omnipod- I did switch over to Tandem and outside the ridiculous time to put insulin and the infusion set - its light years ahead of Omnipod but with Horizon 5 to be launch likely at end of 2022 or in 2023 - it may take over Tandem

@@rhdtv2002 I can't see the advantage Tandem has over OmniPod, except for Control IQ. After living attached to a tube for sooooo long, there's no way I would ever go back. I was constantly having my sites pulled out or snagged on things either by myself, others, or my dogs. Tubes don't work for my lifestyle. Really, in this day and age, why would any pump have a tube? We have the technology to make all of them tubeless. Wearing my OmniPod on my arm is the only way I can keep a pump on during the summer. I sweat like crazy all over my body, except for my upper arm. It's been a game changer and livesaver.

I hated the Omipod as it was to bulky and would never recommend it to anyone, my x2 has been great, I don't use their smartphone app since it requires a locked screen and I dislike needing to unlock my phone every time I want to use it, but that bulky design is inevitable with a tubeless system so I'll stick to the tube style

Mobi will work with all existing tslim x2 infusion sets. Not only the new set they will be launching.

I really don't get why wireless charging is a big deal my phone could be changed wirelesly but I've never used that function even in my car that has one built into as I have my phone plugged into the cars USB port to access my music and music over Bluetooth is bad quality at least for a high end stereo system like I have

Have you actually tried a Pod? It looks great but having such a large pod on your body doesnt work well for me. If it falls off you have to prime a new one and you can Never ”remove it” :)

Yes- Beta Bionics. They have been remarkably quiet recently which is not a good sign. We are anticipating an insulin only pump from them followed by an insulin and glucagon device but that’s a very very long term plan- around 2024/2t by my estimates

@@Nerdabetic for the benefit of others the only tricky part was paring the phone and X2 Once operating you get two “insulin drop” icons. one (black) for automatic boluses and the other (light blue) for manual boluses. The number of units will be inside the “droplet”. Of course you get the DexCom G6 BG reading and curve displayed and other interesting data displayed lower down such as TIME IN RANGE

Only for quick bolus it's useless without an iPhone and only an iPhone no android besides a device that requires a cellphone to use it is just stupid IMO

Good point. Electronic components themselves do not make the pump larger. ControlIQ or any software does not impact the size. Goof observation & thanks for watching.

I guess it's regulatory requirements (FDA and Medical device regulations in europe): These phones are outside the control of the manufacturer and this becomes a no-go for obtaining marketing authorizations. If an iOS or Android software update makes control IQ malfunction... etc. The only way this could work is if the API's (commands to remotely control the pump) are made public. And then, if the patient installs his own software, then it is no longer the responsibility of the manufacturer. Kamil, maybe you can 3-d print an intelligent pump case that is able to press pump buttons and has a camera that can read the data off the display,... that would allow us to read our own data and run our own T1D algo's, send the data to the mobile device, use additional activity data etc... all without regulatory roadblocks.

@@SwissPGO Just supply a PDA as backup. I hated having to rip out the medtronic pump when I had that, especially when dressed in layers of clothing in the middle of winter. Why not remote control the pump and minimise the size?

@@bjarkih1977 I think people will not carry around the backup PDA all the time... so there are risks having a pump without any other control than with your phone. And authorities are very risk averse. But having a minimalistic display for initial setup ( to link remote control devices) and acting as a backup for emergency use when a phone is not available could be an option. Medtronic had remote bolus control on the meters to calibrate at some point I think, but they removed that option. It were these things that openApps and other DIY closed loop systems were putting to good use. I'm still playing with the idea to 3D-print an intelligent case with actuators and a camera - and then publish the design online - just to force FDA to open their eyes that it would be better to require pump manufacturers to publish their pump commands and communication API's.
