It's painful to watch this - but I'm glad you posted it - I can't get enough of Edgar at the moment - starting to realise just how much of Tangerine Dreams music has been part of my life for the past 40 years......

Good old Edgar. He’ll keep playing the music until the end! :)

Or as former member of TD Chris Franke once said, "Edgar would still be playing after the cows had come home & had been put to bed!"

R.I.P. Edgar Froese (1944 - 2015), Thanks for all the wonderful music (which has taken on a life of it's own & will live on) & memories & for being able to meet you in person, I agree with your statement that, "There is no such thing as death & that we just change our cosmic address"

Why all the negative stuff below. Gee some people are hard to please. It's great to have TD back in Australia, I doubt there would be any one who actually attended the show would have a bad word to say. This is for all those who wanted to go but couldn't get there. Thanks colin anderson!

lindentr33 No problem dude, glad you enjoyed the vids, it sure was an excellent show! Also check out my vid of the Sorcerer shows a few nights later, they were brilliant
@jamestuff52408 жыл бұрын
its not that we dislike them its just that they changed their style a lot around 1986 and many people lost interest because of this , i suggest u listen to logos or poland live to see what i mean
@lindentr33748 жыл бұрын
+Jamestuff I know exactly what you mean, but If you cant go back to the eighties what's the next best thing, instead of 60 minuets of magic you still might get 6 minuets that makes it all worthwhile.

I"m not 100% sure, but i think the encore was an improv on a baroque theme,great night,glad they recaptured the sound from the 70's- early 80's.
@borisglikman61519 жыл бұрын
Is there any way to find out for sure Darren what the encore was?
@darrennew61859 жыл бұрын
Boris Glikman sounds like a vivaldi piece to me upon listening again but i can't pinpoint it, if it is that...on their official facebook page someone asked what it was so maybe they will respond there.

darren new The opening is from Ricochet Part 2. The giant pipeorgan doesn't do the original piece justice. But It was a bold concept with the pipeorgan. It would have been even bolder for the intro of part 1 though.

So the Quantum Years is simply tangentised versions of previous tracks? Nice music in itself, but the originals blow these away. Nothing new to offer. Shame. A once great band.
@jamestuff52408 жыл бұрын
even more so now as they no longer exist
@columbo719 жыл бұрын
Dear me, they should have given up 30 years ago.
@columbo719 жыл бұрын
***** Is this even the same band ? I don't recognise anybody, they all look too young barring that 100 year old confused guy at the end, no idea who that is ?
@andrewhillis95449 жыл бұрын
Columbo Investigates That also would probably have put back the development of music technology 30 years! Remember Tangerine Dream were innovators of a lot of new music technology & making use of lots of custom built hardware that a lot of it they themselves designed & developed & as well as producing, composing & performing the music. Look at how many musicians they have influenced over the years & all the great films they scored, Tangerine Dream rightly deserve their place in music history.
@columbo719 жыл бұрын
Andrew Hillis Actually I disagree, they were as you said helping in the designs of instruments in the early years,Christoph Franke with the Jupiter 8 and such but I very much doubt they have had any influence in that area since they started using Korg home workstations in the early 90s, and ever since that time, any freely available instrument or sample library on the market, and from what I have heard this last few weeks of the recent albums, the same pallette of sounds from sample libraries from approx 15 years ago.... nothing new, no new sounds, no innovations. I'm betting your average bedroom studio has more up to date tech than The Dream has used in many a year.
@andrewhillis95449 жыл бұрын
***** Yes I prefer the 'classic':- Froese, Franke, Baumann or the Froese, Franke, Schmoelling lineup but then I would say that because that was the era that I grew up in! 'Some' of their music doesn't sound too bad these days if you are in the right frame of mind to enjoy it.
@columbo719 жыл бұрын
Andrew Hillis Life is too short to force yourself to sit through music you have to put yourself into the right frame of mind for. I think 99% of the reason anybody could possibly be following TD now is nostalgia, I am sorry to see Edgar looking so frail though, last time I saw anything with him involved he was a big guy.
