Welcome to my channel InfoHub. Gadani ship breaking yard is the world's third largest ship breaking yard. The yard consists of 132 ship breaking plots located across a 10 km long beachfront at Gadani, Pakistan, about 50 kilometers northwest of Karachi.
The yard is located on a 10-kilometer stretch of beach along the Arabian Sea, and it employs thousands of workers who dismantle decommissioned ships by hand. These workers use simple tools like hammers and blowtorches to cut up the ships into smaller pieces, which are then sold for scrap.
The ship-breaking process at Gadani is known to be extremely hazardous, both for the workers and the environment. The workers are often exposed to toxic chemicals and hazardous materials, and accidents are not uncommon. In fact, the yard has been the site of several major accidents over the years, including explosions and fires that have resulted in numerous deaths.
Despite these risks, the ship-breaking industry in Gadani continues to thrive, largely because of the demand for cheap steel and other materials in developing countries. The industry has been criticized for its lack of regulation and oversight, and many workers at the yard are not provided with adequate safety equipment or training.
Efforts have been made to improve safety and environmental standards at the Gadani Ship Breaking Yard, but progress has been slow. Many workers continue to work under dangerous conditions, and the yard remains a controversial and potentially hazardous place.
